Alt accounts used to permanently hold the pads in the CG combat zones are making playing in Open less fun

(Deleted most of it, realized no real point in posting about it tbh, will miss racing to block the pads mid-fight against other players though, was a fun unexpected dynamic that lead to a lot of funny moments. TLDR: they are def alts, Power-unaligned ships with very low ranking in stock arx-purchased corsairs. They hold broken instances that no longer spawn npcs, and cause instances to split due to no pads available for respawn, so it's making a mess of open)

How do you know they are Arx purchased?
And annoyed that they are doing exactly what you would wish to do, made me chuckle,
How many non-Arx purchased Corsairs are doing the rounds right now? (EDIT: Had no idea the Corsair had been released for credits when I wrote this, so it's obviously stupid now.)

And you missed his initial, more detailed, post where it was about apparently deliberate AFKing of pads using Alt-accounts to essentially troll/break the instance. He wants to use the pads 'as intended'.

Imma stick my tongue firmly in my cheek and say: "Ha-ha!" and point my finger.

While I don't support deliberately ruining someone else's game experience, I also think it's completely stupid to be able to dock in the middle of a fight, and rearm/repair. I'd say THIS has ruined participating in open for this CG, PLUS:

1) Fighting other cmdrs around stations has ALWAYS been a terrible experience, every pvper knows you go at least 22km out from the station if you want to have a fight, otherwise, it's a lagfest.
2) Only some systems valid for some pledges, annoying but I kinda understand
3) Weird CZs with no goal, no progress, just FITE! (this isn't the end of the world, but I prefer to know when I can take a break!), and friendlies showing up yellow simply gives players arriving in the instance, the first volley before you realise you're being attacked. At least making them choose a side turned them red, or if they were yellow you kept a close eye on them until they chose a side, the point being they stuck out.

Generally, this CG format seems extremely poorly thought through/tested and I don't like it. It;s a particular shame given that the last PP CG was excellent in every way. Why gild the rose? Please go back to the other format! Thanks!

And this is the experience the open only crowd are clamoring for. An inability to actually get anything done at CGs because instances fill up, NPCs start behaving wonky blocking the slot, bad faith players blocking pads, or just people hogging pads while they go out for hours.

Isn't it great we have PGs and solo to switch to when required?

I'm flying 3 on my alt accounts, so I'd guess that, since they were available for credits, a lot more have been sold ;)

ETA: As the point was made the blocking was Corsairs, and the post was made after they became available for credits, it doesn't take much imagination to guess why.

I picked up the edited bit, but, I guess the following excerpt is "intended use" of the pads?

If others are blocking pads AFK, and one of their favourite activities was to block the pad for another player, isn't it a bit like the pot & kettle saga?

Pad blocking has been going on for years, in one manner or another, and is unlikely to stop...
...there are benefits not playing with the masses, after all!

You've failed to take the other point about playing the game vs AFKing, but this one was my fault.
I'd only seen the recent thread about the Corsair NOT being available for credits, and now realise it contains posts about it now being available for credits, which I had no idea about at all. My bad, and presumably the OP had the same thought.

In the time you needed to write this rant, you could have blocked the offenders and re-instanced in a clean instance.
While I agree, in the original OP they also mentioned knowing that they could block the offenders, but didn't want to due to it limiting instancing options.
As someone who plays primarily in Open they were against blocking in general.

All ships drop into hangars on landing (thus infinite pads)
That doesn't free up the pad for docking.

We literally put up with this for years during the thargoid war, every conflict zone around an outpost was limited to one medium pad and chances are it would always be taken up by someone who had gone AFK. Same thing when using a large ship to ferry passengers to the rescue ships, only one large pad available. Solution is to block the person who's AFK and re-enter the instance.

You ask permission to land, land and the ship is taken down to the hangar and (as far as the game is concerned) goes into a magic pocket. In effect this is instance juggling but it allows multiple ships to land as normal- its that you might not take off in the same instance.

No.... it definitely doesn't. It sits in the hangar still in the same instance, other players can still see it in their left-panel contacts and the pad won't accept docking requests because it is still occupied. Even disembarking doesn't de-instance your ship, it just switches to "unmanned cmdr $X".
