Alt+Tab with Oculus cv1 and Virtual Desktop

Hi CMDs,

I read somewere here in the forum that using virtual desktop you cold alt+tab from elite dangerous and like browser the internet without removing the ritf.

I have VD so i launch it and i have my desktop in the rift, then i launch ED and all is fine but when i do alt+tab the game stay in the rift but i cant control it anymore, but the desktop dont show up, if i alt+tab again i get back in to the game.

There is some option to make this happen? Like many other players i find very useful check the web for trades and other stuff and is no very handy to remove all the times the headphones and the rift.

I want that too but if I start ED, Virtual Desktop closes. (or the other way around)

try the bindings settings in Virtual Desktop and set the "Toggle Virtual Desktop Window to a key of your choice , i use F1 and it should switch between the 2. The only problem i'm getting is the occasional stuttering of virtual desktop but the game is fine.

Has anyone got this to work? I very much want to use virtual desktop and elite so I can go back and forth between elite and the wonderful TCE II trading tool. I can get Virtual desktop to open fine, and then from Virtual Desktop I can launch the game. The game loads in the CV1 fine, but I am unable to ever get back to Virtual Desktop. No key combination works to switch back. When I close Elite, the Oculus goes black and stays black. I can never get Virtual Desktop to reopen in the Oculus.

Does anyone have any ideas?
I have a i7 2600k and a 980ti.

I tryed what ozzyneil suggested, the defoult key for "Toggle Virtual Desktop Window" its Pause, and it work, so i can go back to virtual desktop while ED is running in background but very often the screen is stuttering

Can you guys please describe exactly what sequence your starting each program in and any settings you have changed from default. I can't get ED to switch back to Virtual Desktop using the toggle binding. Are you starting Virtual Desktop from Steam or from the Oculus app?

I just tried.
.
First attempt failed
Second worked.
.
First attempt (was also my very first run of virtual Desktop):
0) started oculus client
1) started virtual Desktop from steam (wish i had it without steam)
2) selected no-steam-vr start
3) searched and selected ED-Launch.exe in that Game tab
4) started from there
..pause or alt-tab didnt work it never returned to virtual desktop
.
Second:
0) started oculus Client
1) started virtual Desktop from steam and this time choose run with steam-vr although I believe I never installed steam-vr. Steam always bothers me with "install install install ..this" when starting .. i hate that
2) run Elite from the Desktop Icon (and not from virtual Desktop game tab)
3) tried "pause" and it worked
then rebind the key to num-0 and deleted all F-key assignments in the virtual Desktop
and it still worked with the num-0

switching from ED I do like this:
num-0 (Returns to virtual desktop-Settings..but in oculus view)
alt-tab (to Switch to my app of choose)
alt-tab (to Switch back to elite)
..although on the last iam not sure if it were better to Switch to virtual Desktop Setup app and than with num-o back into elite.

ist cool but as mentioned by others it is stottering .. pain is limited but still disturbing if you want to Play smooth
on the positive side it seems to have helped against the picture jitter that build up after visiting the Mission Tabs on different Locations a few time.
( I often have to restart ED after a time because of that jitter build up )

( yes closing Ends in a black screen in coulus but the 2d Desktop still works )

p.s. have to add I have ED not on steam (might make a difference who knows)
