Alternate sizes/mounts for Powerplay weapons

I'm sure there was already been discussion about this subject, but I couldn't find it with a quick search, so bringing that up would have probably been a necro anyway. So this is my take on the matter. First, to get it out of the way, I think they should all be human tech broker weapons. Maybe keep some PP flavor by allowing their unlocking as a perk of serving a power as well as unlocking them with materials/commodities grind. That way people wouldn't join just to get the weapons, but people playing PP might "accidentally" unlock them even if not so interested.

Weapons come in different sizes and most of them also have fixed/gimbal/turret options. Current PP weapons are all fixed. I'm approaching this with a thought experiment of getting only one variant of existing weapons. Which would I want most? Dividing it to weapons I have and ones I don't have experience with.

I have:
  • Advanced Plasma Accelerator (Large): Great deal of fun. PA's only come fixed, though a special gimbal variant for this more ToT variant might be useful. It fires plasma balls that are smaller but comparable to medium PA's. A huge variant that has a same relationship with large normal PA would make most sense and I really want it.
  • Imperial Hammer (Medium): Railguns come in small and medium, so a small variant would make most sense. However, a large variant could be justified by being 3 slightly smaller than medium shots. That's be more unique and interesting.
  • Pack Hound Missile Rack (Medium): Large variant would make most sense. If it fired 8 or even 6 missiles it would be great. If it just fired the regular 4 but had more ammo it'd still be decent enough.
  • Enforcer (Small): Lore logic says that only fixed mounting would handle the oversized caliber, but gameplay logic says that ToT weapon needs a gimbal. I'm a fixed snob so I'd go for a medium variant, but I'm sure the majority would prefer a gimbal.
  • Pacifier Frag Cannon (Large): Gimbal would make most sense with the tighter shot. A medium variant would fit it in more builds.
  • Mining Lance (Small): It's an useless, hot mess and would probably go with what mining lasers have, so a turret or medium. With a turret we might one that only works in multi-crew so better go with a medium. Maybe buff its most attractive feature, range, a little bit with the medium one.
No personal experience
  • Pulse Disruptor (Medium): From what I understand it needs to hit the modules, so gimbal would be useful.
  • Containment Missile (Medium): Large variant with more ammo, perhaps.
  • Cytoscrambler and Retributor (Both Small): From what I understand, both of these are pretty useless. Larger size might help making their unique effect count. On the other hand, they are 'utility' weapons and being turreted would help that most.

The PP locked kit are not just weapons and personally I do not think the kit in question should have been locked behind PP in the first place.

WRT the Mining Lance - it serves a purpose for those that want to engage in mining in smaller ships, I can not speak for it's precise performance characteristics BUT it is better than a standard mining laser in combat.

WRT the PP kit as a whole, adding different size options for weapons that map on to the standard variants does not seem too unreasonable. After all, Prismatic Shields are not just limited to one class.

I have managed to kill or at least drive away weak NPCs who have come after my precious Void Opals with the Mining Lance, but it's not a real weapon. Also runs very hot. 2 of them overheat my Colonia mining Asp that has a pretty cool PP. The big problem is that as a mining laser it can't be engineered. If it could be modified, it could have some great niche applications. For example, with some lightweight engineering I would use it as a "just in case" weapon that can also get materials off the rocks on my explorer.

I do think all PowerPlay weapons should be moved to various unique tech brokers, just to stop people joining PowerPlay and then random stuff for modules.

And all of the weapons should come in most sizes based on their standard variants. Ideally the enforcer should have a gimballed option, but should definitely come in fixed class 1-3.
