Just a random idea based upon X3 actually.
Alternate Starts for players, new and old alike.
To start with, the current way of starting can be a "quick start" that's just throws you in, no questions.
However, if you want to try something different, you can opt to start in many other ways.
Firstly, the main decision is which major faction you would prefer to start with.
Alliance, Empire, Federation, or Independent, or none.
Starting with any major faction gives you a minor boost to reputation with then, and slightly lower reputation with the others, except independent or none, then you simply start at 0 for everyone.
These also determine your starting system.
Selecting "none" is essentially picking an anarchy system to start in.
Once you've selected your preferred faction, you move on to more advanced options, such as;
Starting money. You could choose to start with nothing, zip, zero. Or a 100,000cr loan, which needs to be payed off, or you become hunted!
Starting Profession, which starts you in a different ship,
Combat=Eagle,
Trader/Miner=Hauler,
Not Sure=Adder.
There was more options, but I forgot them. Lol
As a bonus, picking options should give you a mini intro with a brief history of the major faction.
A full intro/video with a basic recap of the galaxies history up until now would be highly beneficial to new players.
Doesn't have to be fancy CGI like the trailers, just a simple Homeworld/Guild Wars 2 style graphic would suffice!
