Alternative Camera Projection for Wide Screens

Hello!
This suggestion pertains to those who have a super wide, perhaps triple or quintuple screen setup... potentially wrapping around in a half-cylinder about your gaming seat... who want that extra peripheral view.

The current camera projection is the standard perspective projection, which is sensible and good.
However, it would be awesome to utilize the option in the graphics menu to disable headlook for the ship GUI panels and have them always on, setting up wide screen to always have them in view.
That way you could turn your real-life head to look at your peripheral screens to look at the panels, putting those extra pixels to good use.

Without a different projection scheme, having the GUI panels always in view requires a ridiculously high FOV, causing a harsh fish-eye effect. This is a limit of the normal perspective camera projection.

I suggest the development of cylindrical camera projection (or perhaps some other solution?) for those attempting to run the multiple display, half-circle, large peripheral view, wraparound setup.

What do you think? :)

Thanks!

I'd love to see it even though I don't have the sort of cash to spend out on multi displays.

I'd also love to see some way of linking a touch pad, (tablet), to use as the side panels. Imagine using two tablets with touch screen capability as the side panels, especially with an ultra wide monitor or multi screens, now that would make the game immersive.
