Alternative Commanders

This game should have possibility to create at least two commanders, but I don't mind if I could do as much there is factions in this game.

Why at least 2? Well I'm intrested to try out also to be a space pirate, but my current cmdr needs to live by book of law as much as possible. So I need a cmdr who doesn't care about law so much. Yes my "kind" cmdr has got few (small!) fine, that star cop fly through my liene of sight, but hey we all have done some not so nice things, in our lives!

I want "alt cmdr" who is opposite of that lad and may do few nice things only few time, and be a bad boy most of the time.

But I don't wan't to loose my kind one either.

If we have possibility to create cmdr to every faction, it allows me and others to experiences what is like to live in other faction. I'm not going to be a “turncoat“!

From what i have seen in 2.4 coming update, there will be the possibility to save more than one Commanders in HoloMe.

If you are talking about multiples account you must buy the game again unfortunately.

I mean something like almost every mmorpgs has, possibility to make more characters than just one. You can be rogue elf with one characters and dwarf warrior with other character and so on.

My response would be that ED isn't trying to be like other MMOs. The game is more focused on realism than convenience.

-1 for multiple CMDRs personally, I like the limitation of having my mistakes weigh me down and my choices impact my long-term character.

But no-one isn't forced to play more than one character, but those who would like to can. It's not away from any one, like one cmdr only system is.

Just buy another copy of the game - look for sales. (I have three.)

By only having one commander, it reduces (but not eliminates) the daft exploits of bored idiots. If you decide to launch missiles down the slot of a station you know you are going to jeopardise your long-developed character. If you have multiple commanders, what's to stop you acting like a pillock with one of them. You have to invest time in your commander, you can't just chuck one away and still have a "good" one to play with.

I have invested time in each of my commanders, each now specialises in one aspect of the game, so I can choose which one I want to use for a session. I wouldn't just risk one for the LULZ that some kiddies seem to like playing at, although I have done a clear-save of them, but in a considered way.

If you are so afraid about your cmdrs arses, what if we are allowed to have multiple cmdrs in solo mode only? I have played only solo, and that is what I'm going to play most anyway, so you are safe from this 41 Years old kid.

1. No I don't play MMORPGs - I have E D not to massively multiplayer online roleplay - I have it to fly in a space-sim sandbox

2. I refer to even "The Braben" who doesn't want to have their game spoiled by bored kiddies (of any age).

3. I was not inferring that you were wanting to be a pillock for LULZ - I was referring to the fact that they exist (they still do even with single-commanders).

4. Why you have to make personal insults using swearing I don't know and no I don't play in Open Play at all ever since engineers spoiled the game.

5. You can experience as many different aspects of the game as you want, you don't need different commanders to do so, I only have them as a convenience.

I like rpgs and mmorpgs and this game has good possibility to play as rpg, but only one role at the time, and if I would like to play time to time other role, and other time that other commander, why I should pay other copies of the game, and maybe all expansions also to all of them? Totally Agree!

And it's not just MMOs like Elder Scrolls and Guild Wars. Games like The Division (4) Destiny 1 and 2 (3) and others allow for multiple characters going all the way back to X-Wing and Freespace 2!

Even Elite on consoles allows buying one copy and sharing it with multiple logins (however they can't share items like in Destiny and The Division)

So put me down as also wanting multiple characters in Elite Dangerous just like all the other current popular games have.. and even indie games like Astroneer!

You misunderstand my position. I am not laying down the law as to commander slots, I am putting across what my interpretation of the intent of single-commander is. Hence my remark (2) above.

If they give us extra commander slots (which they have previously said was a possibility) then I shall not be complaining as it means each of my accounts can have multiple commanders (redundant but it is a facility).

So I think you need to realise I am not taking any selfish position and certainly not saying they SHOULDN'T introduce extra slots, just that I think we will see more people "acting the goat" when they can have a snowy-clean character and a cast-off one that ganks and is a pain only to be "clear saved" and off we go again but no repercussions on the "clean" commander. Hopefully the new C&P system would be able to counter the present idiots and any future "multi-slot" idiots by linking the crimes to accounts.

No worries - my impression is that you thought I was saying "I bought extra accounts - you should have to as well" but no, just saying why I thought things were as they are.

BTW - Aren't you on PS4? Don't you have seperate commanders anyway - like the XBone peeps? I don't know, it is just what I have read (I'm on PC).

Yes I'm playing PS4 but I haven't noticed that option. I can make new commander with my wife PS4 profile I think, but I'm trying to get her to try it and fly as my wing, so I don't want to spend that option. I know that maybe it's never gonna happen through. &#55357;&#56834;
