Engineers Alternative link to find Materials, Data, etc.

Found this page when I was doing my research:-

I believe it always helps to have several different sources of information to help resolve a problem. Hope it helps. Sorry if it's been posted before. It's in French, but easily translated with google.

Vive la Difference.

Fly safe CMDRs.

That's great, thanks. Yttrium on that list can be mined from planet surface, but I got mine from barnacles I think. Saw a video on youtube of a commander getting his from meteorites on planet surface. The hunt for materials is on :-/

I was told that 100% metal planets for instance don't have non metallic resources, so you can narrow it down a bit. Also every planet generates 1 very rare, 3 rare and 2 common if I recall correctly, but I'm sure the explorers who hunted Jumponium can correct me there. So once you identify the items by rarity, you can check whether you have every drop that planet can offer. And if you're hunting for metallic meteors, you should land in craters on the planets, as they are the best source of materials that have been imported via comets onto that planetary surface.

Just out of curiousity the comment about looking in craters...has that been verified by FD? Proven by trial and error? Or is the comment based on it being logical?

Proven mostly by me landing in them and finding loads of materials there, and also I seem to recall it being mentioned in one of the 2.0 livestreams. And yeah, they are called metallic meteors, so logically I went for the giant potholes :) Worked most of the time for me.

Righto cheers mate.

Oh and if you are in the places inbetween places, the ICZs, the Synueffe's, the COL 285s, make sure and take your time before you move on. 90% of the time the USS popping there is either a degraded or an encoded emission, which means jackpot for material hunters. And you're also in for some awesome sights. If you ever wanted to see a Federal capship splattered across a few kilometers of space with burnt out federal fighters and pieces of eagles strewn around, those are the places you want to be at.
