I had too much time on my hands and re-imagined Planet zoo.
I really had too much time. I was inspired after I created the other thread 'how would you have done DLCs', and I thought: why not re-imagine the entire thing? Hey, gotta do something while waiting for the next DLC to drop.
The base roster!
The base roster contains animals from all continents, but most are African. Still, you can make sections for each continent if you would like.
The building themes are the same PZ started with in real life: Planet Zoo, Classic, East Asian, Indian, New World.
In the base roster you will notice only 1 elephant, 1 tortoise, 1 brown bear, 1 tiger, and a few more animals are missing. They can be found in the Deluxe, in future DLCs, or are replaced entirely. You will also notice that we now have a base game deer, small cat, and new world monkey.
Base roster for continents:
Africa: 27
Asia: 15
Europe: 4
North America: 6
South America: 4
Oceania: 4
+ Red-necked wallaby! It got skipped by the collage maker, darnit
It should have been in here!
The Deluxe contains 10 additional animals, so it's very much worth the price.
5 Asian animals, 3 African animals, 1 South American animal en 1 animal from Oceania.
The game has been released and the first DLC in Year 1 Quarter 1 is... the Indian Animal Pack! What's the point of an entire Indian theme if there are hardly any Indian animals, so here are just the animals you need to create your Indian paradise.
The summer of year 1 brings with it the steaming hot second DLC: Desert Scenery Pack! I feel like I could use a drop of water right now.
After all the summer heat, it's time to cool down in autumn. The North American Animal Pack has you covered, with animals that take well to heat and cold!
Winter has come! And with it, the final DLC of the first year... the Arctic Scenery Pack! What else could it have been
The cold encompasses your zoo and covers it in snow. Unless you live in the tropics. Also, there's something else you might wanna know. A new mechanic...! But first, the DLC.
The first year has ended... which means the first anniversary is here! Rejoice!
Also about that mechanic, and you may have noticed this already, but hey, we have deep diving now! All existing species will be updated accordingly, and if they should be able to deep dive, now they can.
The second year starts with a pack that really doubles down on the new mechanic. Oh yes, here is the Aquatic Animal Pack! Hope you're not afraid of getting wet.
Summer arrives and we're gonna step into the heat once more! The heat of Oceania this time, with the Oceania Scenery Pack!
Did you like running a successful breeding program for an endangered species? If you thought that was a challenge, you're gonna love this next DLC: Critically Endangered Animal Pack!
Oof, that was a tough one wasn't it? But you rose to the occasion and were successful... right? Without people like you, these species would go extinct. No pressure.
People are either in part responsible or entirely responsible for the extinction of certain species. The final DLC for this year will show you animals that are gone from the world forever... or are they? Enter the Extinct Animal Scenery Pack! It will come together with a handy new game feature that is free to all:
The Genetics Lab! The lab has two uses:
What an exciting end to the year! It's the 2nd anniversary already, wow.
And because we've had such a splashing 2nd year, here's another little something. We are introducing Aquariums! They work similarly to Exhibits, but come in different sizes. You can now include Aquariums in your game for the soft price of 5,- which includes 20 different fishes and jellyfish.
Year 3 starts with a continent that has a large roster, but certainly has some glaring omissions: the African Animal Pack is around the corner!
The 3rd summer finally brings us to the continent of South America with the South American Scenery Pack!
Autumn brings us to the other side of Pacific Ocean and gives us the South East Asian Animal Pack!
The always forgotten continent... Europe! Or is it? The base game already allowed you to make a small European zoo section, and the DLCs so far have also given you a few additional animals. But it is time to introduce the European Scenery Pack to truly focus on this underrated continent!
The 3rd year has come to its end! And that means, yes, an anniversary!
And some more wonderful news. Last year we introduced Aquariums, and this year we will introduce Aviaries! For 20,- you can now add Aviaries to your zoo. This update comes with 20 species of birds and bats. You can pick and choose the perches you would like your flying animals to use, which is foliage marked with the 'perch' tag. You can build your Aviaries with regular building pieces, but make sure the entire habitat is closed off. Otherwise, your birds might fly off! Most birds and bats are suitable for walkthrough habitats, with the exception of some predatory birds.
The fourth year starts off with a Forests Animal Pack!
This summer sees a return to South America! This continent is filled with such biodiversity we couldn't leave it alone, so welcome these newcomers from the South American Animal Pack!
Autumn brings... another animal pack! To give you some remaining missing species and missing diversity in ungulates, here is the Ungulate Animal Pack!
The end of year 4 is nigh... and so is the last DLC! The last? Yes! And this is a pack that many have been aching for, even though it has nothing to do with wild animals. That's enough of a clue, isn't it? The Petting Zoo Scenery Pack is here!
The 4th anniversary is here! With of course a nice birthday gift...
And the very last content that is released:
Theme Maker's Toolkit, 5,-
Animal Maker's Toolkit, 5,-
No more DLCs will be added, but you are free to add your own animals and objects to the game!

Ah, so there is the missing Indian rhino!
The stars of this pack are the aforementioned rhino and the Indian leopard. But honestly, India has so much variety to offer, and all of these animals will bring color to your Indian zoo section.
Animal packs contain only a few scenery items that feature the DLC animals, along with 1 scenario.
The scenario in this DLC requires that you build a zoo from scratch, featuring only Indian animals, which are the only animals available for you on the market. Reward: Indian rhino statue.

The summer of year 1 brings with it the steaming hot second DLC: Desert Scenery Pack! I feel like I could use a drop of water right now.
Desert animals from all over the world are now available to your zoos! Deserts from South America, Africa, Arabia, and Australia are represented by the dingo, caracal, fennec fox, sand cat, addax, scarab beetle, and our very first rodent...! Ah, is it a rabbit? Is it a hare? No, it is a Patagonian mara!
Two new building themes are added: colorful Moroccan, and sandy Egyptian.

After all the summer heat, it's time to cool down in autumn. The North American Animal Pack has you covered, with animals that take well to heat and cold!
This DLC allows you to really expand you North American zoo sections! From small animals like armadillos and groundhogs all the way to giants like cougars and grizzly bears! Together with beavers, bighorn sheep, white tailed deer, wolverines, collared peccaries, and alligator snapping turtles, they will transform your zoo into an epic frontier!
The scenario in this DLC requires that you help attract tourists to a poor and mostly abandoned goldrush town by starting a zoo that celebrates the wildlife of North America. You start with no money, and you have to work hard to get this thing off the ground! Live the American dream, and achieve success through hard work and perseverance... right? Reward: grizzly bear statue.

Winter has come! And with it, the final DLC of the first year... the Arctic Scenery Pack! What else could it have been
This pack contains animals that can not only manage in the cold, they thrive in it! Especially that Harp seal with all its blubber. No reindeer in this pack, only wild caribou. Also meet the Arctic hare and fox, and the hairy musk ox. But the star of this pack is of course the Polar bear! So hard to keep content, though...!
Lots of tundra and taiga foliage is included in this DLC, and it also adds two new building themes: Snow & Ice, and Icelandic.
The two scenarios in this pack require that you:

The two scenarios in this pack require that you:
- Build an Arctic zoo in Mexico. Because that's an excellent idea! Reward: reindeer statue.
- Take over an Icelandic zoo with a huge debt. You are free to house any animal you want, but it gets very frigid. Perhaps best stick with the Arctic die-hards. Reward: Polar bear statue.

First off: there's a whole 'nother cold region in the world that hasn't gotten a single drop of attention yet, Antarctica. Where penguins come from. So here, have a few penguins
We give you multiple, for variety. And a penguin-hunting leopard seal, too. Also, have a walrus, even if it's Arctic. Now I'm done with the cold, yuck. On to warmer waters! Hello West Indian manatee, California sea lion, axolotl, Asian small clawed otter, and platypus!
The scenario in this pack requires that you take over a mismanaged water park on Tenerife, improve the animals' welfare, educate your visitors, and breed and release manatees. Reward: manatee statue.

Summer arrives and we're gonna step into the heat once more! The heat of Oceania this time, with the Oceania Scenery Pack!
Finally those roos arrive for your zoo! You've probably gotten tired of using the wallaby all the time by now. You've got the red and grey kangaroo to choose from. Any oceania pack wouldn't be complete without the koala and Tasmanian devil, there's the ancient cassowary and the thorny devil.
This scenery pack adds tons of Australian foliage, and the Australian aboriginal / steampunky / modern theme, because why not.
The scenarios in this pack require you:

The scenarios in this pack require you:
- Start a zoo in Alice Springs, dead center Australia, where tourists from all over the world want to see Australian gems. Reward: Red kangaroo statue.
- Run a successful rescue program in New Zealand, where you save, breed, and release Tasmanian devils. Tazzies are notorious for bad health, so you can only complete this scenario once you breed at least 6 Tasmanian devils with a 100% genetic score for health! Reward: Tasmanian devil statue.

Did you like running a successful breeding program for an endangered species? If you thought that was a challenge, you're gonna love this next DLC: Critically Endangered Animal Pack!
8 critically endangered animals species from all over the world join your zoo, and 2 animals are already extinct in the wild...! Can you rise to the challenge and save these unique species from going extinct? Meet the Celebes crested macaque, grey shanked douc, African wild donkey, Orinoco crocodile, giant muntjac, indri, turquoise dwarf gecko, and the northern hairy nosed wombat... and the père David's deer and scimitar horned oryx that are extinct in the wild.
The scenario in this pack requires that you run a breeding program for 5 critically endangered animals. If you are successful, you receive père David's deer and scimitar horned oryx... and this is where it gets really tough. You have to breed genetically viable animals to release into the wild, and only silver- or gold-ranked animals will do! Reward: scimitar horned oryx & père David's deer statue.

The Genetics Lab! The lab has two uses:
- DNA bank. The DNA bank makes managing breeding programs easier, and allows you to store limited doses of the ahem 'essence' of your male animals.
- Cloning Center. If you buy the Extinct Animal Scenery Pack, you will also be able to use the Cloning Center and bring extinct species to life!
Hunting for meat, sport, utility, habitat destruction, human-caused climate change... These animals are extinct, but with modern technology they might not be for long...! Meet the aurochs, dodo, great auk, moa, tarpan, golden tree frog, Tasmanian tiger, and the woolly mammoth. Their DNA has been sequenced and the Cloning Center will help you bring them to life in your zoo! Bring 40 individuals to life, and you will have officially resurrected the species. From this point on, the animal market becomes available for your extinct species, and you will be able to release your animals into the wild, thus returning a missing piece of the ecosystem.
This pack adds Gothic and Greek building themes, reminiscent of the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington D.C. and the Natural History Museum in London. The scenery includes foliage with a long history on earth, and new museum props that provide an education bonus for your visitors.

What an exciting end to the year! It's the 2nd anniversary already, wow.
Have a gift. Three species instead of two. Hopefully you'll find them a little more remarkable than the 1st year anniversary presents? They are critically endangered, too, so take good care of them.

The 3rd summer finally brings us to the continent of South America with the South American Scenery Pack!
Jaguars? Capybaras? Giant anteaters? Guanacos? Emerald tree boas? Capuchins? These animals are so charming yet wildly different from each other that it's hard to pick the true star of the pack! You choose, then
This pack adds Rainforest and Temple themes, and adds tons of South American foliage. The scenarios require you:

- Aid a German zoo in adding a South American section, with the goal of obtaining jaguars. The zoo director really wants to breed a black jaguar. Wishful thinking, or can you make it a reality? Reward: jaguar statue.

Autumn brings us to the other side of Pacific Ocean and gives us the South East Asian Animal Pack!
Ah, the Bornean orangutan, what a magnificent sight! Without a doubt the star of the pack. Sun bears, babirusas, binturongs, Malayan tapirs, proboscis monkeys, clouded leopards, slow lorises, dholes, and Indochinese spitting cobras give your zoo visitors a real taste of the South East Asian jungles.

The always forgotten continent... Europe! Or is it? The base game already allowed you to make a small European zoo section, and the DLCs so far have also given you a few additional animals. But it is time to introduce the European Scenery Pack to truly focus on this underrated continent!
Red deer, ibexes, wisents, fire salamanders, badgers, lynxes and red foxes have come to add flavor to your European zoos!
And not just flavor, but also color with the addition of the Bavarian and Dutch themes! Painted brick, wood, windmills, boats, and lots of European foliage. Your zoos will breathe continental Europe.
The scenarios require that you:

The scenarios require that you:
- Make the dream of the mayor of a small German town come true and create a Tierpark where visitors can observe European animals in their natural habitat. Reward: red deer statue.
- Help a Dutch city zoo renovate their old and out of date habitats. You aren't allowed to sell off any of the animals, but the zoo is pretty cramped as it is. To make matters worse, the board of directors also wants a special feature on additional European animals. Reward: ibex statue.

The 3rd year has come to its end! And that means, yes, an anniversary!
Four animals for you this time!

And some more wonderful news. Last year we introduced Aquariums, and this year we will introduce Aviaries! For 20,- you can now add Aviaries to your zoo. The fourth year starts off with a Forests Animal Pack!
This colorful pack gives you forest animals from all over the world! It's hard to pick the stars, because who can decide whether the sloth or the howler monkey or the gibbon or the tree kangaroo or any of the other animals are most impressive? Squirrel monkeys, skunks, raccoons, spectacled bears, giant squirrels, and panther chameleons will undoubtedly liven up your zoos!
The scenario in this pack requires that you build a zoo in a forest destroyed by wildfire. Rebuild the forest, and fill your zoo with animals that are at home in the woods. Reward: gibbons statue.

Also, there's the cute little bush dog and the red-eyed tree frog. With this pack, your South American zoo section is fully fleshed out! (or is it?)

This pack contains the zwartbles sheep, the alpaca, pietrain pig, Nubian goat, Canada goose, and Ankole Watusi cattle. It also adds a Farm theme with wood and cobblestone.
