alternatives to MORE robigo

I have recently got my elite trade via robigo. I'm bored of avoiding interdictions now, so I'm looking for an alternative. I have heard on a few forums that long range missions (not shadow deliveries) from obsidian orbital can be just as profitable. I have allied rep with the ant hill mob there already, Ive had a quick look and there doesnt appear to be anything near as good as robigo runs there, am I doing something wrong or has it been nerfed?

It hasn't been nerfed, unfortunately myself and a few others broadcasted the place and now the amount of missions have died down. There seems to be a correlation between the amount of missions available and the number of cmdrs using the station (Sothis has the same issue) As an example, there is a destination that was well known, it hardly gets used now (traffic reports very low) I was able to pick up plenty of Elite ranked missions for 5/6 million each.

Best thing to do is hunt your own long range routes, I have around 20 at the moment, but there are potentially thousands (if you have horizons) Find a good place and keep it to yourself, or share privately.

Lol, it's the lurkers we have to watch out for :) I can't even say for sure that we are sharing the same pool of missions, it has been mentioned quite a few times in various topics going way back. All I know is whenever certain long range stations get busy, the number of high paying missions decrease (Robigo being the only exception) I used to make good money out of Maia when it was quiet.

Either it's the devs adjusting things or the BGS, I'm keeping my routes under lock and key ;)

The BGS directly affects the mission types that are available. You may have simply witnessed the impact of the BGS on Maia.

And I don't blame you. I have my own routes that I won't hand out for love nor money...... well maybe for love .... okay for money too if the price is right. :D
.
I just had a belly laugh in the middle of the office and I'll try and explain why. After my plea for a trade route (I actually don't want one or need one) I shut down the forums because we had a fairly intense meeting with one of the country managers and the general director of a contactor company and it was a fairly tense and not a very pleasant meeting to attend. So I come back to my desk at the end of three 1/2 hours and I'm fairly drained and decide to quickly check the forum (does anyone else do this at work?) while I have a cup of tea and decide how to respond to some of the questions that arose in the meeting. The first thing I see is a rep message (thanks) and the second one is a PM from someone jokingly asking me to share the route if 777Driver shares with me - well he did but I'm not passing it on :D.... and I just burst out laughing. In the middle of this quiet office I am laughing. I'm an Australian working in Russia in an office populated by Russians and someone asks me to explain why I'm laughing and I don't even speak good Russian. I can't tell them because they will only think I'm madder than I am.

Go to Newholm station in Sothis.
They have a lot of fine long range missions that give plenty of pay if you have the sufficient cargo space.
I'm doing in my tradeconda and it works excelently.
Can easily make 30 mio on a quiet run with only 1 or 2 interdictions.
But the payout is far beyond that of shadow missions. Had 1 missions the other day to give 9 mio. Thats easy money for a single trade with no risk.

Downside?
Don't get scanned... Large quantities of illegal cargo makes for large fines! Had a 450.000 credit fine the other day.
Also, I am doing it with 400T cargo space, because some of the missions require you to haul up to more than 90 tonnes.

I had one from Sharon Lee that wanted me to carry 144 ton of Narcotics about 30 or 40 lys and paid about 1.5 mill. I know it nothing like the missions available at Robigo and some other ports but high paying missions are available.

I don't follow, we're talking about BB missions from stations and settlements. Why would Horizons multiply the source of those mission by so much? Are there fringe systems with nothing but surface settlements (that I never heard of)?

If you do some creative searching in EDDB you can find some interesting places to look for missions. One thing about Planetary Settlements is that not that many take the time to visit when searching for high payout mission. Going down to the surface of a planet takes longer, so those are less likely to dry out. Another advantage is that they all have large landing pads. Again, creative use of EDDB could give some potentially interesting results.

Yes. Previously unpopulated systems now can have one or two tiny bases. We're talking tiny here, population below two dozen.

The things certainly changed in elite world. Few years ago, pilot federation scum was virtually nonexistent. Now, they decide every major battle, murder millions, claim all the rewards, privatized research (have you seen single federal or imperial ship researching barnacles? nah, just pilot federation) and taken the duty of judge and executioner (jury is dead), hog all the best trade routes, break commodity markets, steal billions using exploits and hacking of terminal computers (Robigo mainly). Rumors are also around, that those from pilot federation never sleep, eat or go to toilets.
Also, honest man trying to get military promotion has to spend years. Pilot federation cowards get promoted for hauling grain from one system to another and some achieved their lofty high military posts in under a month or even a week. Shame!

Whole universe should wage a war against them, war of total annihilation.

I would in fact like to know a source of high paying missions that do NOT require trading slaves. I will happily trade anything but slaves.

I don't deal in slaves, mainly bulk hauling anything from skimmer components to surface stabilizers for a couple of mill per mission short range, from 4 to 10 million per mission long range, illegal stuff is usually battle weapons, narcotics.

Psst 777, <PM> Hutton Orbital for the really high paying jobs. Usually has something to do with a mug, or whatever.</PM>
