Altimeter bubble

Why is there a need for an additional indicator to dock at starports?
You enter, find your pad, hover above it, lower your ship until the magnetic clamps grab you, done.
That's no rocket science, plenty of people do it in fa off.
Frankly, while I've never needed the docking computer, I've often found it a bit annoying to find the pad I've been assigned, particularly the pads just inside the slot. Perhaps I've always missed cues that are available, but I'd expect more from 34th century cockpit interfaces. Give me a big arrow on the HUD, superimpose a rectangle on it that I can see before I get in the slot, etc.

And while I just look down to line up on the pad, for those with poor-visibility cockpits, I don't see the problem with additional level bubble indicators in the HUD, since we have them for some landings already.

That dot on the radar whatsit tells me where I need to do. If it's up, I go up. If it's down, well then I go down.

How more clear could it be?

I ain't knocking the idea, believe.

I just wonder how more morer it could get.

A lot of elements on the central display look like fluff and stuff that looks only "sci-fi'ish" and cool, but you have actually a lot of information displayed on it.
One example is the "compass" which indicates the target position in relation to your field of view, when it glows, you are about to face your target, you just need to center it and you are looking at it, same with the landing pad upon docking request, the compass shows you where your pad is located.
There is also your signature display which can be used to see how visible your ship is on the radar, but that's another story.
The game so far offers a lot of information, even to the newest of players, you just need to turn on your brain and logic a bit and not blindly fly around and hope everything gets shoveled in your face.

It's like they done it, then couldn't be bothered to write it down so as we could find out.

maybe that's also what they think is 'game'??

Not letting on what the flip does what

Yo. Brabo - that;s not how this works, honey.
