Always target specific module

Is there a way to always target specific module? Like Power plant? Or weapons or something? And if module don't exist then revert to default targeting?

In your contacts console (the left) go into the sub-targets after locking onto your enemy target. From there you can select what module you want to target.

The faster they change this module targetting the better. What is the point of armour and bulkheads if going for something on the inside negates it?

Power plant every time, all other modules Are pointless in npc combat. Quickest way to kill is target power plant.

He asks about wonderbutton, that targeting Power Plant on one click.
There is no such button.

OP -- sorry, understanding your question better, i see what you mean and can only agree with LAmeoveR that there is no possible way to do such a thing. However, ive read elsewhere people setting macros to certain actions. Perhaps that would be the alternative. Hope you figure it out.

Change the Y bind to cycle previous, powerplants always a certain number from the back - if you have a macro you can make one that presses Y 6 or 7 times as simple as that, I just mash Y personally.

Yes I know.

But I dont want to have to select that every 7-25 secconds. I kill a lot very fast... :c

And this is my argument for why computer assisted targeting of sub-systems should be removed. The system should be indicated (with the red box) but the pilot should be the one to hit it and not a computer.

With sub-system targeting this game is basically Galaga.

I set my keybind to chose in reverse order so it usually finds PowerPlant in 7 keys.
However, my new tactic is to off all the NPCs by targeting Weapons ONLY and taking on the biggest 1st! Then after I have as many as in the instance I will slowly pick them off 1 by 1 slowly and see how they take my punishment!

Have a "cycle previous subsystem" button mapped and tap it to the rythm of "Shave and a haircut - two bits!" ...there's your enemy power plant!

100% agree.

This also just occurred to me... what if you could just cycle through three target categories corresponding to the three energy distribution systems:

1: Weapons / hardpoints
2: Shields / general systems
3: Main drive / thrusters / power plant

That way, you could still direct your fire at specific enemy system groups but couldn't necessarily pick a specific subsystem and wouldn't need to bother with scrolling through every pulse laser and chaff launcher on the enemy ship.

You can't do it from the front or the back in a specific number of keystrokes because the loadouts vary from ship to ship, both in front and behind of the PP in the order. The best that I have been able to do is to set a VA command "power plant" in my case to cycle backwards 5 times - which will never go past the PP in the rare cases where the ship has not a lot after the PP in the module list. Combine that with another command ("sub" in my case) which then clicks backwards once. So in combat you issue the "power plant" command and then check what has been set, and then "sub" until PP comes up as the target. Most often I have to use the PP command and one Sub but quite often I have to continue with the Sub until I get the PP set. So it is usually 2 commands, maybe 3, and very occasionally 4.

They actually thought the same thing originally, iirc they said something along the lines of 'We don't want gimballs to become a subsystem sniping weapon', but since then they just left it in there so long that it became institutionalised to the point that removing it now would induce extreme rage.

I have mouse wheel up and down bound to cycle through sub-systems..... yeh I use a mouse, flight stick and keyboard all at the same time, I have plenty of hands!
