Exphihay, when I arrived (in EDD):

The lower left panel shows the discovered and scanned objects from EDSM/EDDN.

Exphiay has long since been discovered and mapped, but not entered into EDSM/EDDN. It's locked out, now, except for surface mapping. You can not discover any more objects.

So, the official first discoveries are not recorded much of the time by players who don't use tools.

Someone makes the first discovery. Someone else maps the objects. Ralph is left with cleaning up EDDN/EDSM, even if they show that I was first, according to EDSM. I was just the first to log it.

That's a lot of wasted trips to supposed "firsts".

If you have the time to map everything, you have the time to install the {REDACTED} third-party tools. And log your finds.

Dunno if this is relevant. But I handed In data last night for a cargo trip, back at a system we control. And I got a 1st discovery for Ao Kax A3 which l know well, it's local. I checked and obviously it was already mapped and scanned.
I've had a few of these recently.
Whats occurring?
I don't use any external app for exploration. But iam in edsm.

If you fully map a system, you should get a "full mapping" bonus for that.
I think the text on it has got switched with the "first discovery" bonus message, though.

There could be another factor. This is my main account. I just clean saved it last week. That might have some weird database effect. I have been able to scan worlds that had been mapped by my previous incarnation with no trouble.

Note: I was exploring systems that I had been traveling through in 2015. Except for myself, no one has entered the data into EDDN/EDSM.
