General / Off-Topic Am I alone about this?

I feel like I am alone in this, but I really hate sunny and warm weather; I hate having to squint, even with sunglasses on, or having to sweat all day. People in my town get so excited when the weather is hot but I just find the streets to be even more overly crowded than usual and tempers seems to be going off more easily, especially on subways and streetcars.

For some odd reason, breathing in fresh air on a hot day in a car with the windows rolled down causes me to feel disorientated, nauseous, uncomfortable and I get the early signs that i'm about to pass out behind the wheel. On the other hand, I like to roll the windows up shut and spend a few more dollars on the gas with the car's AC on. It's like i'm not even a human anymore because breathing heated oxygen into my lungs makes me feel uncomfortable, but breathing in the dirty gases from the ventilation makes me feel happy and relax. Is there something with the fresh air in the summer I could possibly be allergic to?

Why do I love stormy, cold, windy, winter days? I love to take a walk around my neighborhood in a blizzard/whiteout at night. People say there's too much work to do in the winter, but for me I love to shovel the driveway and plug in the car to get it started if the engine is too cold, and I even love to drift my car (not dangerously and/or illegally) on the icy roads when there's no cars coming past me as I come out of the driveway.

And for the record, I absolutely hate hot summer nights. I have an over-sweat disorder and my stupidly-minded, never-resting sweat glands will over-work every night and I will sweat on whatever side I sleep on, I wake up in the morning only to realize there's sweat all over my bed. Buy a Dyson quiet fan for a good night's sleep? Hah, good one! Air obviously won't flow to the opposite site, neither to the bottom where someone or something is sitting on. Air conditioners? Good, but could be better. My back will sweat a little bit but won't be too much to keep me awake. Getting a cold from cold air? It actually turned out to be a myth... my mother later admitted she used to give the me common, old "wear-a-coat-or-you-will-get-a-cold" saying when I was a child because she couldn't handle me not wearing something she bought for me.

Please tell me if i'm not alone.

I'm an Arizonan. I live in a desert. One in particular where people pray for winter to come then suddenly pray for summer to come. Personally I hate the heat and prefer the cold, or atleast a cool temperature without any humidity whatsoever.

You aren't alone pal.

Nope, your not alone. Im in Australia, and it can get bloody hot here in summer. I much prefer cold and rainy days. Hot nights, even with the aircon can be unbearable, especially if the humidity is up, which it often is here in Aus... But people here love the summer, cant wait for hot days.. I feel like I am an alien half the time as my mates reckon I am nuts for preferring winter.

Another Aussie, I prefer Autumn and Spring. The extremes are too...extreme. I don't get the summer worship either. Nothing like stepping outside on a hot, humid, summer's day in WA, taking a breath, and realising that smell of sweat, B.O., and dog poop are literally suspended particles of the aforementioned hanging in the air and touching your brain via your sense of smell.

When I was still working for a living, I much preferred cold. I can always wrap up. But being too hot and you're trapped.

I'm on the S Coast where the weather is quite mild and generally stable. Winters are not too cold, Summers not too hot. Needless to say, it's really very nice. Makes up for the extraordinarily bad tempered, overly competitive people.

Lived in the Tropics, on a particularly humid Island so know what too much heat can feel like. But the people were so easy going. Literally any excuse for a party.

Paris in August is uninhabitable. Water prices go through the roof and waiters are even more snide than usual. It actually quite funny.

The Highlands of Scotland can get unbearably hot in Summer and bitterly cold in winter. But think of beauty and multiply it. That's the Highlands. You can easily see why so many were ready to die to defend it.

Though it was a long time ago, I recall N America, Washington, as being quite mild. The air in particular was really clean, especially in Oregon. John Denver, while giving testimony to the US House said, 'Anyone who says, my song, Rocky Mountain High is about cocaine abuse has obviously never seen the Rocky Mountains'. Having seen them myself I have to agree.

Nope, not alone.

Spent my 1st 3-months in Russia in Kazan; 35c and I could barely function, tea with lemon was the only way I avoided melting into a puddle.

Spent my next 6-months a little further north, including a stay in Murmansk, -35c and loved it; locals thought I was nuts. Nothing beats banya, beer, kebabs and a plunge into an icy lake!

I'll take the cold over warm any day.
