Am I Doing Something Wrong at 17 Draconis?

I found that it was 4 delivery missions per 1% from Post Captain to Rear Admiral. It sucked. Took about two weeks, running a full stack of 20 missions once per night and grabbing every donate mission I could. That's two weeks just for the last promotion. I think that's a bit excessive... but I will enjoy looking at the Corvette parked next to my Cutter.

I wish I got that. I was doing 3 data delivery missions for 1% at ensign. Maybe it's because I didn't get my Fed ranks at Tun beforehand? I don't seem to get any donation missions at Tun either.

That's why I don't mind some of the quick cash runs now. It doesn't matter if you have billions. You still wont have rank to buy a Cutter/Corvette. And you'll still have to grind at the engineers to mod your ship. And then you'll need to learn to fly it properly.
.
So, get your 'Conda in 2 weeks the 'easy way'. All you'll get is a quick trip to the re-buy screen.

True, although to be honest I think people made money pretty easily beforehand too. There were guides on YouTube called Sidewinder to Anaconda in 24 hours that didn't even involve Robigo runs. Then again I just started playing the game again so there might be something crazy new that I'm missing.

All your missing is the strange whining on the forums from people who somehow feel that others have had it easier than they had it. Or something like this. It's incomprehensible, yet there it is.

I ranked up to Rear Admiral at 17 Draconis in the pre 2.1 days. I went there as a Warrant Officer (took me about a year to earn that rank through normal gameplay). I saw an average of 4 donation missions per refresh. A good roll would generate up to 8 missions. None of them were over 100k credits. Something worth noting, I was allied with all the minor powers there; reputation worked differently at the time. Once a player was allied with a major power, they were automatically allied with all minor powers of that alignment too. Took me 2 days and 7.5 million credits to get to Rear Admiral under those conditions.
