Am I just out of luck if I can't pay insurance?

I had a 14 million cr vulture. Died in quick succession 2x which wiped out my extra $ Upon my 2nd death, all options are red except taking a new free sidewinder and I'm in the hole 800K already from the 1st death.

Is that pretty much it? If I accept the new sidewinder I'm done, and starting from scratch?

If so, I think I'm dunzo, that was a lot of time getting to that ship and then 2 deaths and I have to basically start the game over? Say it ain't so.

It is so, I'm afraid. Although, I would suggest you hang in there. Getting the Vulture back will be much easier than getting it the first time.

Yep, welcome to being broke. Remember, NEVER fly without your rebuy, because the next time you see the insurance screen its back into that useless little sidey. Good luck...at least you'll know how to get out of the sidey far faster this time ;)

Look on the bright side. At least you didnt die in an Anaconda with no rebuy. Some people have had the misfortune of that happening to them.
You can work your way up back to the Vulture in a reasonable amount of time, so I would urge you to hang in there and do not quit. And do not fly without having your rebuy covered.

Yes. Default is the only option in this case. If it's a problem depends on your ranks. If you have remotely decent ranks it's much faster to get better equipment again and 14Mcr isn't particularly much money for a couple of smuggling runs out of Robigo or any of the other fringe worlds. All you need is a Cobra and that's fairly easy to get. Just shadow the few security vessels left in a High Res site and steal their kills.

That stinks. I have a hauler in dock worth about 2 million, you would think it would let me sell that or use it as collateral for the loan.

You can't really ever not go out w/out insurance because there's that 1st time you get killed after which, well, you could get killed again right away :)

The stuff just hit the fan in a conflict zone and all of a sudden it was all reds flashing white and boom, roasted.

First one was my fault, I went after a NPC kill that was out of reach, but that 2nd one was business as usual until boom.

I wish I had know about the 1 million limit. I'm sure it's in the fine print, it always is.

Thanks for your sympathies boys. I have 142 hours on this game to get to a 14 mil vulture and a cpl mil hauler, and I'm definitely not starting over. The game was fun, but if I wanted permadeath there are other games for that.

I can't imagine the pain for you guys that lose even bigger ships w/out rebuy.

Vasious, I'm not sure what you mean by stripping the modules out of the Vulture, I'm sitting at this screen where really the only way I can get out is to pick the free Sidewinder.

Regardless of what I check or uncheck I can't make it work. I need to get my wingman to run over to Wohler terminal and get my hauler up on e-bay spaceships and bring back the cash for the creditors ASAP ;)

Truth be told the game was pretty worn out, we've enjoyed playing but the game was turning into a grind now. Something like this is pretty freeing actually.

Have fun guys. Game was definitely worth the $, 142 hours of entertainment for $14 on sale, thanks Frontier, look forward to more cool stuff in the future. Horizons doesn't look too great, but sounds like some cool stuff is coming with multi-person ships etc.

You could play CQC until you can afford the insurance
Also try stripping the Vulture of upgrades?

^^^^
This!

I never thought of that until now.
That IS an Option now indeed, although I have no idea how much Credits can be earned within it.

Well boys it didn't take long. I got in that free sidewinder, flew to Trevethick dock (not Wohler Terminal - always lost track of my ships), sold that hauler for 1 million, kitted out an eagle and I'm ready to give it another whack.

Now I know about the credit limit. Funny after that 1st death I was thinking "Hmm pretty nice system, they dock you 10% but at least you can keep playing regardless of how many times you die." Ooops.

Thanks to all for taking the time to reply and try to help. Thanks for the kind offers to help me get back on my feet and the advice about trying CQC, the farther out trading routes, etc.

I'll just give it a whack on my own and see if it goes quicker the 2nd time around. There was a significant learning curve the first time through, maybe it's a lot faster the 2nd time.

CQC is something I hadn't tried, I'll check it out. I assumed it was like WoW arenas.

Trevethick Dock.

I've been back down that way, but only to help a brother out.

You our should join a player group. Most groups will give you a hand getting started or restarting if that happens.

A hundred ton of Painite can get you on your way nicely.

Cheers Cmdr's

Well done OP, tats a great gamer spirit you got there. You did the emotional rollercoaster in less than 3 hours - you will never be beaten.
First time it happened to me (lost my Viper to a Cobra in beta) a sulked for over a day!

Simon

wait??
If you die and have to take a free sidewinder you keep all your other ships that you have parked arround space any way?

Yes, but beware, the value of those ships can't be used to pay the rebuy cost via insurance...

just get in your sidey, go to a high res, steal NPC kills for a while and buy a new vulture and NEVER fly it again without rebuy :)

Anyone that eats a no rebuy loss, gets back and and carries on gets an automatic +rep from me. I'd give +100 if I could because you didn't know about it and still carried on (many post here and kick up a huge fuss about it).

Top lad.
