Am i missing something with the T9?

So ive moved into the T9, which I never thought I would do, but whatever :)

Am I missing something with this?

Ive found most traderoutes get better returns when outposts are involved.. its not hard to find 2500+cr/t within 13 LY.. however, Im finding it a lot harder finding above 2000+cr/t between two stations that arnt more then a jump away, or within 500ls of the jump in point..

Which.. when i look at the numbers means I can make 4M an hour pretty easily in the python (276 cargo) using outposts and having more fun.. or.. I can stick to this slow behemoth with 500T cargo making only 6M an hour...

So I ask, am I missing something? am i just not finding these 8+M/hr routes i thought i would? or should i go back to the python and skip the extra 2m/hr and have a little more fun....

Thanks guys!

Hasn't there been many posts on profits decreasing the more you sell? Could be confusing the information, but I swear I've seen something about bulk taxes or some janky mechanic being involved.

It used to happen but prices on my milk run became fixed a few weeks ago, my behaviour doesn't affect them anymore. That's different from the 'volume tax' though.

Been trading about 80LY from Igal.. 7LY between systems, both are within 200LS of the stars.. Palladium (800k) one way, Extractors (180K) on return..... 12 min round trip.. (can do it in 8 with a clipper)

Commodities havent budged in price all day.. Palladium is steady at 1,700 and Extractors are only 700...

but like i said, its the ship slowness while in/out of stations thats increasing my time.. in a clipper (a buddy is doing the same route with me) can do it in about 8 min..

with my python I was in the same area, with slaves one way for 1,5k one way, and 1.3 gold on the way back.. 9 min round trip.. only 276 cargo though, but it was an outpost so i cant go there with the T9

Thank you Telnets for the info. I am in a T6 with a capacity of 92 tons of cargo. I have a 2,150 LS run to one port and a 1,910 LS from the other! This takes me from dock to dock a total of 10 minutes door to door!

I haul Palladium from one to the other and make about 100k from my 92 tons. The other way I take food and this nets me only 12k profit. The extractors would only give me 9k profit because of the set up here. I am saving up for a bigger trade ship as quick as possible. Like this rate it takes me 10 runs to make 1M!

Plus I take on the juicier missions netting the most money between the runs. Makes some money but I need a bigger ship

Keep grinding away for either a ASP and do rare routes,, or go all the way to a clipper or T7.. they have enough cargo a regular route will pay better then rares.. GL :)

Tonight I sold the T9.. re-bought my Python and found a route on the edge of civ space thats paying 1200 one way, 1600 the other, 12LY and both within 200LS of the jump-in point.. i can do a 7 runs an hour, which puts me at 5m/hr.. 1m/hr less and its WAY more fun to fly..

Dont think ill be going back to the T9 anytime soon, less they either a) up the cargo by 128 to make up for the slowness, or maybe make it 275 boost, with 200 regular which would at least not make the entry/exit from the station as painful as it is and allowing t9 owners to make double what a smaller ship can do with 1/2 the cargo hold..

I think you have it analyzed about right. Less fun = 50% more money. 50% is huge IMO. Myself, I can't imagine that trading in a python is that much more fun than trading in the T9. If/when you find better routes the discrepancy in earnings will be greater.

But that's just it..

Example:
Yesterday, I was trading from Hillundga (I cant remember how to spell it) <-> Totenis.. was something like 18LY away.. one station was 2000ls out.. Was making Okay money.. 5M an hour with the t9 because of my speed coming in/out of the docks and the extra jump. Friend in a Clipper was making 3.8 with 240 cargo, so only 1.2 M less then me, but he could do 2 more round trips an hour then me just due to his docking speed.

So, went looking again, found another route Near Igal. 1 jump between systems, both within 300ls of jump point.. was making around 5.8-6M an hour, friend was making 4.5M an hour.. same route.. again, due to his speed in/out of docks..

So, its really not that much more.. i was expecting if my friend could do 4M an hour in a clipper with 240 cargo.. I SHOULD be able to do closer to 8M an hour, at least 7M.. which would make flying that slow thing very worthwhile.. That just was not the case..

So, I sold it off, bought a Python, have 276 cargo, and found 2 outposts, within 100LS from their stars, 8 LY from each other, and now, im pulling in 5M an hour, 5.2 of I concentrate.. which is only 900k-1M short of what i was in the T9, and its a lot more fun to fly..

It also took me 1/3 the time to find the route then it did with the t9 due to not being restricted to large pads...

Right now, my friend is in his clipper making his 4M an hour on the last route we were at.. and I moved on with my python to outposts he cant get to, and with only 20 more cargo then him, im making an million more an hour?! its just a little off balance.. I was expecting 50% more returns, even 40% more would have been nice flying the slower ship.. but not 20% like i have seen.

So yeah, I dont know.. maybe i just never found that golden milk run in the T9.. or, maybe it just want the ship for me.. either way, I dont think unless they up its speed slightly (200 norm, 250/275 boosted?) ill be going back to one anytime soon.
