Powerplay Faction: Li Yong-Rui Am I missing something?

Allied to LYR for about a month and last week made a determined effort to run [Franchise] missions, spending stupid amounts of credits I don't really have. And got to just over 5000 with a half mill salary - big whoop!

Even if I got to the distant, gleaming 10,000 Merit mark I'd have to run (in my 712T cargo T9) 8 trips a week just to stay where I am?

Now the reason I'm with LYR (and Mobius) is that I suck at fighting and it isn't really me - I wouldn't want to have a bounty on my head.

So am I missing some aspect that makes this easier?
(Putting a docking computer on the T9 was SOOOO nice).

Obviously LYR is into undermining via combat, so how can this be done? Heck, I don't even want/need a PackHound!

How could anyone stay at top rank without putting backwards and forwards, plying Merits for silly amounts of time & money / week?

What's the point?

Hi Kaimei Kokoro

I am one of the leaders of Sirus Gov, the official LYR PowerPlay group and would like to help.

First things first. You refer to running franchise missions. I assume you were buying franchise packages to prep a system. Please note, there are no profitable systems left for us to expand to as a power. Any expansion would result in an even worse starting position each week so we ask all of our pledge to concentrate on fortifying our existing control systems (prioritising those that are profitable) rather than preparing and, even worse, subsequently expanding to new systems.

Powerplay will not make you rich. Best case scenario, once you reach rank 5 you can just about break even each week by fast tracking industrial equipment to fortify systems.

You mention undermining. LYR is a neutral power and we do not attack other powers unless asked to do so, for example, by opposing an unwanted expansion for another power. It is also seen as being OK to undermine once another power's control system has been fully undermined. Undermining is still tedious but you can get to rank 5 for free. That said, if you don't like combat it is unlikely you will enjoying undermining as it is basically attacking other powers ships.

So, the big question I guess is why bother with PowerPlay at all? Well, for me and many of us in Sirius Gov, the best feature of PowerPlay is playing the game as part of a group with a common goal. If combat isn't your thing and you don't want the grind (and cost) of fast tracking fort materials you can still play an active part by helping out with our BGS (background simulation) work. Keeping a majority of exploited systems within a control bubble under corporate control reduces our fortification trigger by 50% and reduces our workload. So, by playing the game - running missions, exploring and selling data, trading and, for those that enjoy it, fighting the odd war here or there is a great way to make credits and help out LYR as a power.

You will see that we are not very active on the forums. If you are really interested in helping us come and join us on Discord - https://discord.gg/pN8j3u

If the link has expired by the time you read this, just DM me and I'll send you a new one.

Thank you Buck_Richard

a) I'd read the Reddit and meant NOT undermining, my bad - sorry. (Obviously bad at proff reading my own work too!)

b) I had tried to go onto Discord, but couldn't work out how the heck it worked, just clicked your link (still active) so there now - but not sure how this all works.

c) Thank you for the considered reply and I had previously just run SIEs so again, eminently stupid trying to run Frnachise. (Although I'm not the only one - some systems were fortified to several 100%!)

d) Hopefully I can make Discord work for me, so see you there (gulp).
