Am I reading the new CG correctly

Or is fast travel now confirmed.?
I guess after gnosis it was pretty much always going to happen (stop making slippery slope fallacies I was told) but looking at this then once it is all done and dusted am I right in saying there will be an instant ferry too or from a guardian site ?
(Dock in station go to bed, wake up and undock at ruins?)

Conceptually I can't argue against it, BUT it flies in the face of what developers told us many years ago and when it inevitably comes to places like colonia it will certainly remove the achievement of moving to colonia imo.

That's how I read it, too. Not sure how that'll work practically though, as it would be quicker to just travel to those sites (unless they're much further away than the existing ones?) yourself instead of working around a set schedule.

I couldn't imagine the Megaship making i.e. 24 trips a day and Players boarding it to fast-travel those 600-700LY and drop-off their items inside the bubble.

I more or less expect the Megaship itself to act as a drop-off point on location, which Players can use as a Basis for their Guardian runs.

I didn't want to say anything earlier but I was thinking about this too.

For anybody seeking to unlock Palin, I guess jumping on the "CG bus" might be a good head-start.

TBH, I interpreted it as the megaship bouncing back and forth each tick (i.e every 24h). Just my read though.

IF (and this is a big if) it really jumps with each tick (as opposed to once per week) this really is aiming at more involvement of players with the guardian plotline/ modules,
which is great imho. I hope we'll see more guardian modules soon. I like it.

I for one welcome "fast travel", as long as it's not instant travel, but perhaps similar in ship transfer times. Either that or like Gnosis, where you board and wait for big jump. If we ever get a ferry that takes us to Colonia in a week, I'll happily ride that boat! Just make sure I get a cabin with a window.

I bet everyone complaining about fast travel is probably doing so from their ships with 70+ LY jump ranges 🤪

Not seeing anything saying they jump w/each tick. The post talks about how the m/s is for getting CMDRs out to the Guardian area, because 700 Ly is a long way (🤦‍♀️ ). So it could well be that it jumps weekly, and the II deliver to the station. One day we will get more info....

14 jumps in my DBX taxi. Yawn.

AFAIK the range of those megaships is very limited so it would take them like >30 days to get to Colonia? I don't see that as much of a problem.
Doesn't take much more than 15 minutes to go to the guardian sites anyway.

If the Gnosis is the template for how this'll work, the travel will be instantaneous.
The question is, how far will the megaship jump, and how often.

I'm sure Factabulous can tell us what the Gnosis' jump-range is but, TBH, I'd be surprised if the "CG Bus" doesn't jump out to the Guardian sites in one jump.

I mean, It takes less than an hour to fly out there in a DBX so it's not going to be very useful if a megaship jumps, say, 250Ly every 24 hours.

This is why I'm guessing (with nothing said by FD to base it on) it would be daily. It's not a long journey... for the ferry to be in any way practical it, it'd be daily. If it's weekly... well... why? Unless after this II, FD decided there was a good reason to be transporting hundreds of tonnes of Guardian items back to the bubble, you can do everything you need to with a T6 and =~ 10m credits in very short order.

I think it's just that fdev know a lot of the playerbase is very, very lazy. So the m/s is a weekly (they move on the weekly restart) shuttle for pie-laden corvettes. The II will deliver to the station that is out there, the m/s is a distraction. So it will be a normal CG. I stand ready to be proven wrong :)

The longest documented megaship jump was around 8kLy.

It's no different to the existing moving mega ships. At least it will be only once a week at most and the distances are not massive, so there is some limitation. Also most of them are under 10 jumps away in DBX. Not a big deal. If it was colonia, then I would have an issue with it.

"The Gnosis has a maximum jump range of 551 LY " (from the wiki).

Also, Megaship jumps require a server downtime, usually during the Thursday's maintenance.
Even, if this new Megaship can jump to the Guardian system in one jump, it will probably be one jump per week: one week in the human bubble, one week in the Guardian system.

AFAIK until now it was like once a week for around 500ly. But this was for a community managed megaship, so they have to communicate with FDEV where to jump to.
If FDev manages the jumps they could theoretically jump daily with every server tick I guess?
