Am I the only one bothered by collision damage?

It seems way too high to me. It introduces nothing meaningful to the game and generally only causes frustration.

My main problem with it is that a collison at half top speed usually causes ship destruction at full shields and hull.

Er... try that in your car and see the results :eek: or actually, on second thoughts, don't.

I don't think what you are seeing is totally unreasonable. :D
 
Depends on the shields ... my cobra (with C4-Shields) had full speed collisions with a stations hull more than once (trying to get out at full speed).
I survived with 30-60% hull.

I am sure that I wouldn´t survive this with a Lakon-6 however :D
 
Depends on what speed, shields, what you hit, and it's fully reasonable, my god, ramming into things is bad, you need to avoid it, go slower.

Half the speed of my car is roughly 100 KM/H. If I ran into something that caused a full stop, there would be nothing left.
My car would be severely smashed at 1/4 it's max speed, 50 KM/H would destroy it, but maybe I would survive.

I'm not trying to be offensive here but think more sim, less arcade. It's not a driving game where you take every corner at full speed and just grind off the wall smashing into it until you complete your turn.
If it was less deadly, you would see even more people boosting through high traffic areas, ramming everyone.

There was a bug related to collision damage that was fixed in 3.09 I think.

If you can remember exactly what happened and the damage you got, post up a description. It might actually be a bug.

Collision damage was tweaked down at one point and was a common complaint for a while.
 
I've been thinking the opposite lately. I seem to be able to hit all kind of things in a station and land on the launchpad at full speed with hardly a scratch.
 
The collision damage scale has been greatly reduced since beta 3 I think. It's much more permissive right now.
Sometimes I finish light targets with boost + full pips to shield + collision… (fed fighters approved©)

Gameplay-wise it seems ok to me, but I don't have a heavy ship (sidey).
Is it wildly punishing with bigger ships?
 
I keep clipping the slow AI as it leaves the station and I never get any damage, I would of thought it would dent my shields a little, but it doesnt.
