Am I the only one chatting with stations?

I wonder if anyone reads the banter I send to station crews...
Frontier probably thinks I'm insane. So far they've been too scared to accept a voice call lol
Nope I did the same thing like 10 times before I figured out that I was talking to the AI.
Completely lost and have accomplished nothing; just purchased today.
I'm hoping there's a tut for this once the game comes out as it kind of gives no guidance.
Mind you, I've tried saying things via text to a lot of players I see around the place. So far I've not had a single response except for one player in supercruise who did a 180 degree turn as if he was worried I was going to attack him with my Lakon Type 6.
chat system is still a bit "unnoticed". i hope it changes with final game.

I think a big part of that is the targetting. I'll get messaged, but then trying to find the person, target them, then send message is kinda wonky. Is there a "fast reply" yet?
I try to chat with CMDRs but maybe its my Cobra that makes the suspicious.

i don't know of a fast reply, there is so much of this still in the works.
in my opinion they should concentrate on making this more playable instead of adding "fancy" stuff all the time.
i know it is beta and so on, but they want this to be online, and theres a lot of possibilities for players to get in touch missing.
apart from that this game is amazing

Can't chat with people if you don't know who they are. He did a 180 so he could get a scan and so chat with you. This is a problem w/ the current system. It really should let you chat with unidentified contacts, or perhaps make them identified once they contact you.
You're not alone. I did the same thing as soon as I found out how to send text message requests. Sent one to the Freeport station and I was sure this was the general chat.
Oh, boy, was I wrong.
I hope not. General chats have plagued MMOs for years. Not a single benefit to having general chat. I want this game to be as player free and lonely as possible so I can really feel how space would be like.
Reason I got curious was I was having issues getting clearance to dock.
Kept sending requests for a minute, nothing.
Started sending silly insults to the docking chief.
Wasn't till I said "Come on man! I'll give you $5" that I was instantly granted access.
I followed that up with something like "HAHAHA Sucker!"
Then when I got to my pad I came down and just grinded. :S I noticed the docking holo was pointing towards me/backwards! Yawed 180, and touched down facing the entrance. I still think that guy was messing with me...

Yeah, both of those would make sense, along with a "reply to last contact" button.
