Newcomer / Intro Am I the only one who leans into turns, pulls back on nose-ups, and leans forward on nose-downs?

Am I the only one who leans into turns, pulls back on nose-ups, and leans forward on nose-downs?

I have a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick, but its buttons are annoying and uncomfortable. I want a better joystick in the same price range, and a better chair than my spinny office roller chair. Something closer to what the rest of you have:

Probably

Full mesh seat and back office chair is the longest lasting as well as most comfortable option for a chair. Not only does it retain it's support and comfort, the mesh allows airflow that eliminates sweating and heat up.

This is the way.

I move around alot when playing as well. That's probably why my Virpil Constellation Alpha has developed play at the base (it's over 2 years old). I'm currently waiting for my Constellation Alpha Prime to ship. That should last a very long time.

It's not worth it to me to replace a budget setup every 6 months or so. I'd rather get the best I can, knowing it will save me money in the long run.

if i lean to much i fall off my chair and spill my beer, dont do combat missions and drink lolol ;)
To mitigate the risk of this I use a chair with arms and load the booze into a sports bottle, that way it doesn’t all spill everywhere when I knock it over.

I have the same issue with my cheapo Amazon chair. The recline lock seems to always pop out at the wrong times.
My usual issue is if I get too active the gas lift loses lock and I drop to an uncomfortable height usually this is gradual but occasionally involves a sudden bump.

If you do that you might notice that the movement of the field of view on vertical acceleration is incorrect, being reversed. Left right is correct, just to emphasise the error (i.e. both should be consistent as rotating the reference frame should make no difference). It's been like that forever, and hardly anyone notices.

Or use TrackIR - stabilizes the cockpit, minimising the stupid faux-g-head-bob.

I use TrackIR, so I move around like a Stevie Wonder impersonator.

In the same price range? Not very likely. You could try the Thrustmaster T.16000M. It sure feels nice and the X/Y-axes are really good, but the stick has two major drawbacks: the lack of buttons in reach of your thumb, and the twist axis that starts jittering after a few months.

Something closer to what the rest of you have:
Yeah, that's a Thrustmaster Warthog throttle and a central stick that could be by Virpil. I don't recognize the one on the table. Those two alone would be more than €/$ 500. So "in the same price range" and "something closer to this" are mutually exclusive.

The most fun thing is what happens when you bring a hot cup of coffee up to your mouth to take a sip, the screen has a right old wobbly (spazzes-out was what we used to call it but that is not considered an acceptable term these days).
How does the system handle hot weather.

That is not an issue, it tracks the IR reflected from the clip or emitted from the active clip (I don't use that) - ambient temperature is not an issue, it just tracks what appears as "bright" IR. I have no idea of what IR wavelengths the camera registers nor the bandwidth (the LEDs in the "camera" and the active clip LEDs have a clearly visible glow so presumably must be the 850nm type). You can make it follow a LED torch and probably any other "point" source of heat. I don't smoke but I suppose that it would respond to the burning tip of a ciggie (board nanny filter won't let me use the f-a_g name) as you bring it up for a drag.

Thanks I was grasping the wrong end of the stick probably because of watching The Thomas Crown Affair (Brosnan) recently.

Yes, do it. I really can't play without it anymore. Well, at least ED.
TrackIR might be a good idea for the OP as well. Leave headlook active all the time, and it will teach you to stay still

Edit: I won't be able to get mine setup for a bit. My Alpha Prime just arrived unexpectedly (they forgot to inform me it shipped). I'm going to be busy for a few days removing all the unnecessary complication in my current setup.
