I really didn't feel very comfortable sitting in the pilot's chair. Why? Because it really didn't feel like actually looking down at my hands at all when seated. And when I walk around the bridge I noticed the pilot seat.. it's already taken!

So I move a few feet away and reset position, go back and sit down in my irl chair. Voila I am now not alone on my ship anymore :D Much more immersive ;)

I just wish my co-pilot had a head! So Frontier.. Could you guys(when/if you get the time) add a function to enable pilot's head to appear when the player moves away from the pilot seat? Also a key binding to move your postion around the bridge would be nice, to make things easier when trying to match postion with one of the other seats on the bridge [up]

I've done that a couple of times, piloting from the copilot's seat in my Cobra.

But generally I prefer to pilot from the pilot's seat. Not only is it nice to be able to check my throttle's position visually (which was a strange feeling the first time I realized I'm not looking at my REAL throttle), my HUD is easier to read from the pilot's seat.

In VR this would be a problem for those of us that actually do sit in the seat. The rendered head would get in our way.

I am parking my ship outside of the starport because inside the starport my computer becomes toasted while the fans of my computer spin like crazy. :D

Hmm, on first glance that sounded like a nice trick to use the left seat in the Clipper instead of the right hand one (being a pilot IRL this irritates me to no end).
But without being able to switch the HUD to that seat it doesn't really make sense.

No. As I said, only when you move away from the seat will the pilot's head render. It's just a matter of adding a function in the code that checks distance between HMD and pilot. We know the head can be turned easily on and off already by going into external view, so this can be done without to much work(I think).

Hah, I will need to try that some day.. ;)

I also sit in the co-pilots chair in my Vulture (to the rear-left-and up a bit from the pilot). I've just been reading the thread about mixing ED vid with 'real-life' vid (arms, hands, hotas, other real-life items) using HMD, a webcam and 'greenscreen' (I already have the vid editing s/w that can chromakey). Hope to show a result in the near future which I'll upload to youtube and link.
Would be good to see ones-self actually flying, walking about (and drinking beer etc like I do when I fly).

I used to use it to 'magic carpet ride' ships back in beta by positioning myself on the ships nose.

Just walk back a few steps, recalibrate and sit down back in the chair. Haven't done it in two years, but thanks for reminding me. Alternatively, just fly standing in a Viper.

Hmm, I would honestly like the option of removing the player body for VR, I just don't need it for anything.

Having something wrong is more disruptive than not having anything at all, and until we do 1:1 body mapping and tracking, it's going to be wrong.

Approved. :)
