PvP Am I to old for PVP

o7 Cmdr's,

Thanks for all the great comments and encouragement. I am going to try and work on this from now on and continue to improve my piloting skills. And thanks to the one's who listed some great video channels to watch and learn from in this journey. I know there are some discord channels that have been listed in the other threads on this category and as soon as I get the discord up and running I will join some of them to learn from other pilots who fly open and engage in Pvp. And I know that practice will be a key fundamental in improving my skills as a pilot. Elite has a great community of players and I look forward to learning from a lot of them.

Youre never too old to learn new things! Maybe it takes a little longer but practice is your best friend.
I would suggest you join a squadron, there are lots of people who gladly help. Also do some friendly 1v1 against seasoned pvp players, takes the stress out a little bit and he can give valuable feedback.
If youre familiar with discord you could join one of the pvp servers. At some you can upload your videos and other people point out what you did wrong.

Have fun pewing and good luck.

I can relate to your situation, dealing with these whippersnappers. I dont know your platform or setup, but what helped me as a PC player was moving to a gaming mouse. I moved a lot of my combat keys to this (Red Dragon, 18 keys, $30) such as pip management, select target, toggle firegroups, and after some practice and break-in time its wonderful to not have to look at the keyboard for those functions during the heat of battle anymore.

Never too late, man. I mean, I regularly get spanked by a 66 year old woman in Forza Motorsport. I thought I was pretty good until then lol.

Seat time. Easily one of the most important parts of learning PvP is hands-on experience, beyond keeping a positive outlook. Eventually, you'll get a feel of where your ship is, or where it should be in relation to your target, what buttons to press, and when to press them. It'll come to you, as long as you're willing to try.

Get some friends together and battle it out. Even if they aren't great pilots, it can be a good time.

We look forward to seeing your first fight!

Right now I am running a T16000M Thrustmaster Hotas on PC. Right now I am playing around with were things are mapped on the buttons to streamline things a bit. And also playing around with the Curves software to see if I can get things more softer in the movement and not so jumpy. I know that k&b can be better for this I think because of the precision of the mouse analog movement. But I do love flying with a throttle and stick. Loved it all the way back since the Star Wars game Tie Fighter came out. So I would like to continue to use the Hotas and just keep practicing to get better with it. I took a look at the Red Dragon and that does look sweet to map a lot of the functions right there at your fingertips. Thanks for the suggestion looks like it would be a great idea with the right setup.

Very true. I remember when this game first came out, not the first version, but the present one we are playing and I struggled with the combat mechanics. But I kept a positive attitude and continued to learn and play and just have a good time and things just feel into place. Practice and a willingness to learn makes a very big difference. And I am ready for that challenge.

LOL, I will have to learn to record next. I have never recorded my game play. Probably need another storage device.

This is a crucial step to improvement. Spend some time reviewing the fights you have and you will quickly see which ares of your game are working and which are not. Also study the other players clips to learn propper techniques for the various elements of the combat engagement.
If you can try to get a look at the footage from your opponents cockpit so you know what you look like from your opposition's perspective.
I'm 50 and can hold my own in almost any company, age is not a barrier to success.
My tag is robah1969 feel free to hit me up for some friendly training any time.

Thank you very much for the insight. I can see where being able to view the footage from the opponents cockpit would be very informative and a great learning tool. I will take down your tag and try to take advantage of the friendly training here in the near future.

You are never too old for PvP! Trust me!

Experience is a grade. Try to join a veteran PvP group of players and you will see what I mean [cool]
