Am I wanted?

I just look in my navigation panel and found I have a 36K bounty in Where I was in CD-34 9020.
I never got a wanted red sign in HUD and when I look at the only station in the system it doesn't say Wanted. the Nav panel say I have 6 days and 23 h and 50 minutes.
I don't remember shooting anyone not wanted.
do I just have to wait it out?

Do you think you might have accidentally "bumped" a npc whilst leaving the station and the small fellow blew up?
Remember another thread where something similar happened to a Commander in a Clipper, when he was approaching the station, an NPC Super-cruised into him and blew up, since he was "speeding" its counted as a crime against him and he had to get out fast as the security forces opened up fire

Did you quit a faction? Or fire on another faction, wanted or not? If so, that is maybe why you have the bounty. It's harmless, you may get a few more interdict attempts is all. I would just head to a different system and avoid the one you're wanted in for a week.
Cheers!

Thanks for the reply Domarraa but I still don't understand why I didn't get any wanted messages on my HUD or on the local station I was very careful to hid only wanted ships and when I sometimes hit a good guy I stop as soon as the 'wanted' sign comes up.

Thanks for the replies I don't remember hitting anyone but it is possible. I am not pledged to any faction so I suppose I couldn't have killed one of 'my side'.
Oh well I'll just carry on elsewhere and come back in a week and claim the bounties I accrued in CD-34
Thanks again

There are still some strange things afoot. You can clip a ship without getting the FF bounty, but if it then gets killed by someone else, you suddenly get the Murder bounty. I had one last night, fighting pirates with a bunch of NPC bounty hunters in a SSS

36k would mean 5 or 6 kills roughly 6k each. I had a 400k kill mission to kill 5 local security did it and ended up with a 30k local bounty for 7 days. So unless you did a mission to kill stuff in that system report it as a bug, as you only get that high a bounty with killing

I think I will report a bug. I switched off my PC for an hour to see if the bounty on me would go but it is still there counting down.
Still no wanted sign at the station in CD-34 9020 and I've 178K bounty to collect (next week). maybe I'll trade a few rares.
Thanks once more for the replies Pinger et al.

Hi Every one
Still having trouble with this wanted issue. I posted about this on the 'report a bug' page and I was asked to supply screencaps which I did and got no further replies since then the week has passed while I'm out exploring and when I went to look at my status I found that the week has started counting down again, and this time when I look at system map of CD-34 9020 it does say I'm wanted which it didn't last week.
So yesterday on the bug report page I posted a new screencap showing my change in status but have had no comment.
Does anyone here know what is going on? Am I going to have this 36k credit bounty on me forever even though I never had a red 'wanted' sign in my HUD or on the station at the time?

Hope someone can help, luckily I am 6k LY away from CD-34 9020

Thanks Reckless

After seven days (there is a countdown as you noticed) the bounty turns into a fine that you can pay off in the system.

Thanks everybody for your replies.
I still don't know how I got this bounty, can you get one and not know until you look in the navigation (left) panel.
I will be exploring for over a week so I will go and pay the fine as soon as I get back unless late payment of fines have consequences. Do they? if so I will cut short my exploring and come back.
I'm 6.5k LY out at the moment and heading out.
Thanks again

It depends on the fine...
If it's a Legacy Fine then you're safe as you don't have to pay those off and they can never become an Active Bounty again. Any other fines have a 7 day timer to pay them off by, if you don't they'll turn in to an Active Bounty.

For a more in-depth guide to the Fines & Bounty system checkout my post in this thread (#6)

OP have you been smuggling, or had the "illicit cargo" sign lit prior to noticing the "bounty"?

You can get stiff fines if scanned with illegal cargo, and it doesn't automatically make you Wanted, so I'm guessing a cop scanned you while you were carrying something that was illegal...I got 500K once smuggling into a Military Outpost (learned that lesson :) ); so you don't need to kill anyone to get large fines that take a week to become legacy fines.

Because the game doesn't like giving you any information on your HUD.

Have you tried using Shield Cell Boosters yet? Besides the tiniest little 'shweeep' noise, it gives you no indication that you've actually used it. Expect to bash through a good few unnecessarily because you weren't sure if you'd actually activated it.

Hi all.
Yomamas Fett. I was carrying some Leestian evil juice and didn't notice it was Illicit for quite a while as I have traded in it many times before and didn't even know of the new messages like 'illicit' and 'speeding' if this is the cause of my problems will I be able to pay it off? I'll just read Driftwood's post the answer may be in it.
