Hi!

As you know I do enjoy PvP, but never said I was good at it! :p

Anyway, I've been wanting to ask.

On paper would you say the Viper Mk IV is a more "noob-friendly" choice than a Cobra Mk III owing to it being outright built for combat and having a few perks such as better weapon placement and more versatile internals?

Cheers.

Viper also have better turn.
But if you seek good pvp ship go for vulture(dis boi is really fast)

I'm aware that Vulture is significantly superior, however for the sake of this thread I am only comparing the Viper & Cobra.

As said in the OP, total amateur. I've no doubt in my mind that I have a lot to learn.

Then Full gimbal build\hull tank with bi wayve. With fragmentation cannons(you shoot those point blank) to deal with enemy shield.
And mid multicanons to kill

Guy far away, shoot him with multi - going impact close to you, let him eat fragmentation scraps

Edit. Here i fixed fsd https://s.orbis.zone/PGM2kPgz
P.s. Ignore engineering you can fly without that(its for fighing big bois in big ships)
P.s.2. There is also premium ammo - if people gonna bully you about using it against them(when they fly 15k shield slave moblile a.k.a.cutter) ignore them. But i really recommend it in pvp with big bois

When I think of PvP, I think of two guys using the same public trough in the head, trying not to end up with it on their shoes. Combat-by-numbers usually proves to be a plan to fail. The human factor is just too big a variable.

Personally I like the Viper 4 better, but then I also dislike the cobra in general.

Funny, I was under the impression that the Viper IV is for the more experienced pilots. Tried one in pve (that I used for a bit for base attacks) and it felt like trying to dance knee-deep in a swamp. But I guess you mean fancy pvp-noob, not noob-period :)

Yeah. PvE I'm fine. :p

OP, if you want to do serious pvp, take competetive ship like fdl, fas, vulture, alliance ch..., even krait or python (or fgs, fds, clip)
that is nr1 step you need to do, step up and forget about cobra, viper... yes they are ok but not as primary pvp ship (same with big ships)

I cant believe after few answers nobody adviced just that major thing.... to get medium ship.

With small ship it takes too long to kill other pvper in medium ship.

as for weapons, use anything :)
Ship have to be build for PvP only, so forgot about versatility like f.e. fuel scoop, srv hangar, cargo rack (!), so equip it just for PvP. Lot of shield, and lot of armor. Then come to CG, with your new maxed pvp ship and confidence how long it will hold in a fight, then realise you can be killed faster as you was thinking, then you will improve.... and that is most enjoyable IMO

I think he already knows all that very well, and he isn't interested in 'serious' pvp - as in, get a better kill ratio for your fragile self esteem. The man isn't actually a noob, I was kind of curious about where this thread would be going. Going towards less capable ships is the challenge for the experienced player. As an example of the opposite, I'm a proper noob; I'm reluctant to use my fully engineered FAS in pvp before I can manage to offer a reasonable challenge for a middle-of-the-road pilot in my Vulture.

Where it would be possible to arrange some friendly PvP/field testing for these small builds?

I mean... anarchy systems could work for this?

I don't do PVP. but I wonder how the engineered Courier would be, with that super speed and above-average shield values...?
3 class 2 hardpoints :)

It's an often used anti-ganker ship or light PvP vessel.

Can't really kill a FdL etc. with it except you're way-above-average good, but you won't get killed either if you're halfway competent.
