Amazing! How do they do it?

Well now, I discovered something new today. Have been around since Beta, watched development of this game, kept up to date on the forums (man there really are some trolls around). Love it, absolutely love it.

So here is me, trading away quite happily. Never really fired anything in anger. Traded my way up to a Type 6, couple of million credits in the bank thats when it hits me. Boredom... lets try something else. Ooooh a Cobra, why not. So I store my truck and get a mk3. Put some extra mods on it, big weapons lets go! Heh... yeah oops. First mission is Naval Progression (Federation). Hunt down somebody bad...or something... hey lets just go and try out my new ship!

This is where my madness truly began.

Head out into the wide galaxy looking for some chappy to shoot at. Eventually find him.. a Federal Dropship? Cant be that bad can it? Yes, I can tell you it is. As a Novice combat pilot it really is. So twice he gets me, have to do the rebuy of shame (always have insurance kids!). Third time around I get so close, then he cracks my canopy... fleeeee! Manage to limp to a station and repair. Ok lets pick on something smaller shall we. Head out again. Get interdicted by a NPC Sidewinder. Easy! See I can do this. Dispatch him quickly and claim a £3000 reward. Ooooh you get money for shooting bad people, yay! Head back to claim bounty and reload. Head out again, interdicted again (are Mk3's magnets or something?). Hey this guy is unshielded, whats an Anaconda? Can't be that difficult. Yeah, Ouch. First salvo from him, there goes my shields. Second, hull is down to 20% (I thought it was meant to be reinforced dammit!). Close hardpoints, divert all power to engines, charge FSD and..... FLEEEEEE. Head back to station, lick wounds. Then I pause, Im hooked again!

Damn you Frontier for making such a flipping good game! :D

When I first met a dropship, I was pretty surprised, they can be quite strong. Since it's made for passenger mechanics, and those aren't in the game right now, the dropships are pretty useless, and I haven't seen a single player fly them, but they're still pretty good in combat.
And oh, Anacondas...

Dropship is basically a german king tiger tank and you were trying to take it out with a sherman.
Nah, it (the dropship) was more like a chocolate cupcake, and the OP was a wasp.
I love comparisons!
(sorry, but comparisons seems to be the forum flavor of the month)

+ 1 for the laugh and the great attitude

:D :D

They are death incarnate.

I found this out the hard way. 3 separate instances with Anacondas and trying to figure out why I was at 60% shields, 100% hull and suddenly just died.

Plasma Accelerator.

Now when I'm bounty hunting, I shoot the guy and make him chase me until some Feds show up and take down his shields. Then I do the quick flyby with the multi-cannon and take down his hull. I'm still afraid to take on assassination missions because, god forbid, that a-hole NPC is in an anaconda.

I want one so bad :( Anaconda Envy. Python Envy too.

That reminds me of my first date with a girl named Anna Conda (scnr). Sold my trusty Sidewinder and got me an Eagle and some shiny upgrades. Three guns must pack some punch so why not try one of those kill mission that pay 150k? Bad decision :)
I found the NPC I was looking for in a USS and was already in hull before I even could deploy my guns. A second or two later I was rammed back into a Sidewinder (right.. no insurance. I was young, you know? XD).

Happy to see you take it with a smile :) Have some rep :D

+ rep for that innocent, virginal post Kodiak....
Reminds me of my youth! ;) <big hug>
