I haven't encountered a contact binary either. I'm curious what happens if you jump into one of those systems at the wrong angle. With stars that are a few LS apart, you fly through the secondary star, come out the other side, and then scramble to drop a heat sink and find an escape route before going to get clean underwear. With contact binaries, could you drop into SC inside the secondary star and experience insta-death? Or will the navigation computer drop you out farther away, or cheat and alter your angle of approach from what it should have been?

This one started cooking me right away. in fact i flew right thru one of them on entry. Nasty. I managed to escape with minor module damage.

I hit one of these tonight. Instant fuel scooping. I had the sound off and was talking on the phone while jumping to the system. Tried not to sound panicky on the phone as I frantically waggled the joy stick and hunted for the heat sink button. Miraculously managed to avoid a meltdown and not sound like I was playing a video game while talking to someone the phone.
