Greetings CMDRs
I was wondering how many Supergiant stars are within range of the human bubble, particularly close enough to visit in 1 day now that I have upgraded my Cutter to 26Ly jump range.
The 1st one I came up with was of course Betelgeuse at only a few hundred LY distance
..... quite startled to arrive at 2500Ls from the star and it already took up my entire screen.
Imagine my consternation in finding that the 1st Planet with High Metal Content I wanted to scan was only 1780Ls from the star WELL WITHIN fuel scooping range.
Cost me some slight damage and used up 2 heat sinks. But what a sight .... with a Coronal Emission in progress too.
Slight problem with the next star on my list. VY Canis Mayoris
Its only 1500Ly away ... and it is also the LARGEST HYPERGIANT in our galaxy ..... but no idea how to get to it from my current location.
I would have to pass near COL 70 SECTOR FY-N C21-3 ...(Apparently Thargoid Space) in other words several thousand stars are all locked out with an unknown permit and the long way round adds an additional Thousand Light Years to the trip.
Should I bother ? Are there more interesting places to visit close to home ??
Thanks CMDRs
