That sounds like your card is running too hot. If you're overclocking, then turn it down a bit. If you're not overclocking, then roll back to a previous driver.
nope, cards are running at normal temps, fans turned to max, constant monitoring of temperature and gpu usage. this started only when i installed the newer drivers, nothing else between happened
anyone have other suggestions? i really dont want to turn back the drivers
With flickering of textures, that can be due to a number of things.
1) GPU is overheating.
2) GPU is old and is dieing.
3) Drivers had issues on installing/updating.
4) Drivers possibly temporarily incompatible with the game engine.
5) GPU was overclocked too high. (OC'ing the GPU too high can damage your GPU)
I'd honestly revert anything that is OC'd on the GPU. If that doesn't resolve it, do a driver roll back.
im running 2 x r9 290x
i dont overclock, and i manually set fans to 100% when i game
i have no issues with any other crossfire compatible games
this just started after 16.2.1
i am sure rolling back drivers will fix the problem. however, i am trying not to as i will lose features/crossfire with other games
i am wondering if anyone has the same issue with the newest drivers, or if anyone has any other crossfire game profile they have had success with

When I upgraded to Crimson 16.2 I got enormously bad image corruption in-game. I've been around PC's for many years and the problem looked exactly like the sort of corruption you get when the GPU memory starts to fail. I reinstalled an earlier driver and the corruption vanished. One thing that I happened to notice under the 16.2 driver was that it spun up the fans on my video card to around 2550rpm while after I rolled back the driver they spin at around 2850rpm under load. The card I'm using is a Sapphire R9 270X and my card is not overclocked at all
