amd 16.2.1 broke crossfire?

crossfire was working optimize 1x1

since 16.2.1 i get every texture flashing ridiculous colors like a rinbow, compleetely unplayable game

tried afr freidnl,y, afr compatible

none work - same thing

no default profile

any suggestions/tips? anyone found a working profile?

That sounds like your card is running too hot. If you're overclocking, then turn it down a bit. If you're not overclocking, then roll back to a previous driver.

nope, cards are running at normal temps, fans turned to max, constant monitoring of temperature and gpu usage. this started only when i installed the newer drivers, nothing else between happened

anyone have other suggestions? i really dont want to turn back the drivers

I'd roll back drivers just to make sure it isnt one of the cards.

With flickering of textures, that can be due to a number of things.

1) GPU is overheating.
2) GPU is old and is dieing.
3) Drivers had issues on installing/updating.
4) Drivers possibly temporarily incompatible with the game engine.
5) GPU was overclocked too high. (OC'ing the GPU too high can damage your GPU)

I'd honestly revert anything that is OC'd on the GPU. If that doesn't resolve it, do a driver roll back.

im running 2 x r9 290x
i dont overclock, and i manually set fans to 100% when i game
i have no issues with any other crossfire compatible games
this just started after 16.2.1

i am sure rolling back drivers will fix the problem. however, i am trying not to as i will lose features/crossfire with other games

i am wondering if anyone has the same issue with the newest drivers, or if anyone has any other crossfire game profile they have had success with

Pairs of 290s in crossfire here with Win 10 and latest 16.2.1

Other than custom crossfire profiles not working with this game (and I tried just about every tricks that I can think of) graphics are fine.

And no, I have no issues with games that have built in profiles. However since Crimsons where released it ignore user made profiles and there is no longer an option to force xfire on.

Caveat - Gaming on the rift so this may have something to do with it.

ED does not play nicely with Crossfire nor SLI, this is part driver issues, part game but either way the best way to play it is to simply use one GPU, ED & EDH don't need more than that anyway.

so no one has figured out a profile to use? optmize 1x1 worked until crimson drivers (16) came out.

no one found an alternate? i can confirm this is the same on the amd forums

When I upgraded to Crimson 16.2 I got enormously bad image corruption in-game. I've been around PC's for many years and the problem looked exactly like the sort of corruption you get when the GPU memory starts to fail. I reinstalled an earlier driver and the corruption vanished. One thing that I happened to notice under the 16.2 driver was that it spun up the fans on my video card to around 2550rpm while after I rolled back the driver they spin at around 2850rpm under load. The card I'm using is a Sapphire R9 270X and my card is not overclocked at all

yeah crimson drivers broke optimize 1x1 compatibility. looks like were screwed. thanks amd

optimize 1x1 working fine here (16.3.1) two HD7850s (both overclocked), if anything it feels less fluid than with one card even though the FPS is higher, I've noticed this in other games too. Seems Crossfire & Crimson don't mix that well, as Mazhurg says above the Force On option was removed and since then these drivers have been poor with Crossfire generally.

I'll await the next Crimson update and see if that helps, if not then I'll probably roll back to pre-crimson to get the most from both cards.
