Does anyone have any experience with an AMD Dual Graphics setup in Horizons?
I have a A10-7870K, 8GB 2400MHz DDR3 RAM and a cheap R7 250 2GB DDR3 OC GFX card.
Windows 7 64 bit.
I was running just on the graphics card for ED 1.4 because the dual graphics didn't help.
I'm only running 1360 * 768 res because that matches the native res of the old LCD TV I
use as a display. Started out with HIGH graphics setting for Horizons.
Down on the planets the frame rate was dropping into the teens, so I enabled dual graphics
to see if it was any help. Frame rate improved, mid twenties to mid thirties, but it seems
there was a drop in performance in space, down from 60 fps to 40 fps in SC.
To enable dual graphics the onboard APU graphics have to be force enabled and some system
memory allocated to it (a minimum of 512MB) I allocated 2GB to match what the GFX card has.
Perhaps this has left Horizons a bit short of memory? Could I get away with allocating the minimum for GFX RAM?
Still have some room to move dropping some setting to MEDIUM on planets so I'm fairly happy with this extremely cheap system.
