AMD Supercruise slowdown FIX

Hello everyone! I'm very happy to share this information with you fine people. To get rid of the super annoying low FPS in supercruise on AMD card bug, disable ULPS.

Here is how you do that- http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/316913-ulps-ultra-low-power-state-disable-amd-crossfirex.html[1]

Basically, open up Regedit then point to your HKEY_Local_Machine folder and hit F3. F3 is the hotkey for find. Type in enableulps and set each instance you find from 1 to 0. This will disable it. Restart your computer and enjoy the game!

I don't run crossfire, and running without ULPS seems like a great way to increase my power bill. I'm already using an AMD card. Sheesh.

I am running an AMD CPU & GPU, but not using Crossfire or Dual Graphics.

Since the point of ULPS is to disable the second card when it's not needed (well, stick it in a low-power state). Does this advice apply to me?

NO XFire = don't bother with this

IMO

don't waste money on XFire/SLI/Tri setups... a single, dual CPU graphics card is far more effiecient, unless you are freaky about bench marking .... XFire/SLI/Tri setups for average, normal everyday gamers is throwing cash away

I am only running one AMD graphics card, and this fix works for me. At either AMD's or Frontier's end, there's something very strange going on with this feature. You're right that this shouldn't work, but it does.

You have nothing to lose by trying it.

I'm running a single R9 390X, and disabling ULPS did not resolve the issue. Still get terrible framerates in Supercruise.

Interesting. Did you do this on Win7, 8 or 10? I thought about this awhile ago when I tried to get CFX working...? Ill give it a whirl on win 10 and see if my 290x's can run this game like it should.

I have been reading on this issue in many different forums, not just elite dangerous. However the problem only seems to be in this game. Something I've been looking into is why the game options for me when selecting a refresh rate, is why my options are either 59hz or 50 hz for my display? After reading much about this, this could be the cause of the frame rate drop in SC. I've checked my display settings on my amd driver 15.12 version running an r9 390 with a benQ GW2750h 1920x1080@60hz, settings verified on the driver and in windows 10 settings. I've even downloaded latest driver for my monitor. Why is the game options giving me only 59hz or 50hz option. I'm really thinking this is the issue. Before installing windows 10 from win7 my option in game was 60hz. I think there is a conflict here.
