American Everglades

In my most recent franchise zoo I really wanted to create a "Swamp Walk" similar to the one a zoo had in real life that I frequently visited as a child. As I was constructing it though, I realized how little marsh animals Planet Zoo has. I think this game could really benefit from an expansion with an "American Everglades," or just wetlands in general, theme. This could include:

Habitat Animals
  • Florida Panther
  • American Alligator
  • River Otter
  • Coati
Exhibit Animals
  • Tokay Gecko
  • Florida Scarlet Snake
  • Florida King Snake
  • Striped Mud Turtle
Of course, more or different animals could be included. There are a lot of animals in this kind of biome that often get overlooked, and with the danger facing wetlands today I think an expansion like this could really bring awareness to the beauty and diverse wildlife there, while also getting to use animals that aren't often seen in these zoo simulation games.

I like all of these. I've been wanting kingsnakes for a while.
Another nice possibility is the red-eared slider turtle. They're even prettier than the mud turtles, in my opinion.

Red-eared sliders would be great! I also didn't even mention all the different frog possibilities.

Like the choices.

A clear theme, sounds like a catchy name for a DLC, variety in species.
The only thing that might be an issue for some people, they could consider some animals as re-skin.

Yeah, that's a fair point. Hopefully the rest of the DLC would be interesting enough to out weight that. Including the animals, there is a plethora of plants that could be included, and maybe even a bayou themed construction expansion.

I like all the animals one the list. I'd hope / imagine that if/when the Cougar (Puma concolor) is introduced they'd just have a broad enough climate tolerance to include the Florida panther though. That way they could be included in other themed areas (and could be used in South American areas too). The species' distribution is huge and would include almost all the biomes in the game (excluding only tundra). Even if they specify to subspecies level the Florida Panther is just a subpopulation of the North American Cougar (Puma concolor couguar).

Alligators would be great (i'd also like caimans and Nile crocs at some point) .

Personally, i'd prefer another otter species before the North American version - either the giant otter, or the asian small-clawed otter.

Coati's would be great - 100% support.

I'd rather have a generic North American cougar than specifically the Florida panther, and I think the alligator snapping turtle is a more worthy inclusion than the coatimundi, but otherwise it is an interesting theme for a DLC. Of course, unless things change, it's unlikely based on the current pattern that we'll see DLC specifically centred on regions such as this. A broad "North America Pack", perhaps, or maybe something else (someone mentioned a "Wetlands Pack"), but I doubt we'll see an "Everglades Pack" or anything of the sort.

Spoonbills and beavers would be great too. I'd also like to have a nice swampy set-up. My main complaint with the game is a lack of species variety. :(
