Ammo Limpets and Ammo Storage - New Idea

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, sans-serif]I was in a wing with some wing mates and we came across a great idea. Lots of the weapons in elite dangerous, specifically kinetic weapons, have very little ammo capacity. So a great way to solve this problem is by implementing "ammo limpets". Instead of transferring fuel, picking up floating cargo in space, ejecting a targets cargo, or scanning an asteroid, you can give ammunition to your wing mates. In addition to this, you have the option to carry ammunition in the form of cargo. This form of ammunition will act as an extra "reload" that you send to your friends or use for your own weapons when they run out. I already shared this idea with the steam community and i got great positive feedback on the idea. It will allow players who do not own horizons to still upgrade their weapon ammo capacity. This will hopefully make weapons like the railgun, frag cannon, and most importantly, missiles and torpedoes, more relevant. Missiles and torpedoes are very under powered in both damage and ammo capacity, and i think this will help greatly. I also believe ammo limpets would give a much greater purpose to "support" ships in wings, supplying ammunition to their allies. Feedback is very important to me and the possible development of this idea. Hope you guys support my idea and help it get into the game.

Yes, but this will allow players to more conveniently make use of their weapons ammo capacity. Most people hate the grind and i'm one of those people. I'd much rather sacrifice module space for additional explosions if you know what i mean. :D

Frontier have been asked many times for reloading from the cargo hold (prior to the introduction of synthesis) - we got synthesis as a means of creating ammunition on the fly....

See a skilled pilot. Would go and farm for synthesis minerals. While weapons and such are full. Then when they go into combat they can stay in combat for a long time.

Replace "skilled pilot" with "Horizons pilot". And your statement is then correct. Lol

I too like the idea of ammo transfer, but synthesis has made that idea rather pointless now. Unless you don't own Horizons, then that's FD giving you the finger. Lol

It doesn't take long to farm mats for basic ammo. I used to think it was a total waste of time, until I accidentally gathered 250 mats without realising. Lol

What ED does need is a way to transfer and/or trade materials.

AFAIK Horizons isn't needed for either gathering materials or synthesis. If all you want is materials for basic ammo, they are so frequent in asteroid mining that they are a nuisance.
If a player wants to specifically collect materials, mining without a refinery is a very efficient way of doing this. Limpets will then ignore all fragments except the materials. Or if you want something a little rarer, like vanadium or tungsten, strip the roid and only collect the materials you want.

I have to remember that. Spend one day mining minerals and the next day in combat.

If all you want is materials, metal rich is the best ring type to mine in. From what I've seen, it doesn't matter whether the ring is pristine or depleted. The rare materials are slightly different in rocky, metal rich and metallic, so it can be worth mixing it up a little. Ice rings aren't so good for materials, though I have got the occasional arsenic.

Shoot you could make a small fortune mining the minerals and ores. Then one in combat. I might do that on my Cobra MKIII
