Ammo/Ordanance generator?

Hi all
i'd like to suggest a new module type which, when activated, switches weapons to using fuel instead of ammunition (similar to the plasma accelerator/railgun mod) doing so also negates any of the "special" engineer upgrades but keeps normal engineering (rapidfire etc) and causes a 20% reduction to damage (roughly).

have 2 module, one for explosives (missiles, torpedos, rockets, mines) and one for bullets (MC, cannon, frag cannon)
have them drain a LOT of power relative to their size and cause fairly weighty heat buildup:reduced by points in SYS, so doing this requires redirecting some powe from engines or weapons (limiting the volume of fire at a time)

1) Light (ish) ships that want to bring a torpedo or 2 but don't want to be rendered useless after firing it can switch the generator on, acquire target, fire , and then deactivate to return to "dogfighting"

2) larger builds expressly built with this in mind with large PP's and efficient components can stay in this for the whole of a combat (imagine a T10 specifically decked out to have cannons, MC's, missiles, torpedos and mines, all weaker but firing more or less at will)


needs to be activated on the right hand menu, and when active connects weapons directly to fuel supply: ie: ammo pool is separate. Have the conversion about 1.3x the "plasma slug" variants to make them still worthwhile


basically because a lot of people don't USE the ammo using weapons, especially in PVE, where straight lasers tend to reign supreme for sheer operational time

this would let you bring torpedos/mines/whatever, and maybe an extended fuel tank to fuel it all...but doing so will deal less damage per shot than people who left them at home
