Ammo Rack Compartment ?

Who thinks that a Ammo rack compartment would be a good idea ?

idea--> Same as cargo rack with different capacity with an slight increase in weight and power consumption, the rack would allow a certain % of Ammo you can carry/buy

Would be good for missiles and for those lonely torpedos :(

i know syntesis does that but i think its logic for a space craft to carry dedicate a compartment to carry more ammo

What do you think about it ?
 
An excellent idea.

As it is now in real life... combat vehicles ( frigates, destroyers, cruisers, submarines, aircraft carriers, etc.)
all have dedicated compartments for each various type of ammunition, called a magazine.
 
I used too think it was a good idea, but it has too many implications for PvP balance.

So I suggested in another thread, that NPC's drop ammo pods, similar to how they drop materials, which you can collect to top up your weapons.
They get used up instantly, so you can't carry them around.

PvP remains untouched, and PvE can use the low ammo count weapons more often.

Win win? Ish?

I used too think it was a good idea, but it has too many implications for PvP balance.

A proper PvP match between 2 properly outfitted ships can last quite some time. For reference:

If a PvP encounter is as short as you say it is, it is likely due to the losing ship being completely outmatched by the other ship due to a number of factors that I will not discuss here (I really don't want to open that can of worms).

Im not familiar with pvp at all so im gonna trust you on that. but i would still like to have so ammo compartment to helps having more missile/torpedo of cannon shell .. not something overpower just a little boost

Ammo compartments for the military slots of ships that have them? Great idea! Have some rep!

Originally i wanted it to be for any compartement, but i like you idea for Military slot only.. makes sens :)
 
Some ganking methods require a very well timed strike from multiple torpedoes, to more or less wipe out a ship in under 10 seconds.

While it sounds very overpowered, due to the skill required and limited ammo, it's actually not. Its a 1 trick pony, then you need to rearm.

Being able to rearm torpedoes on the fly (and mines, because they can do the same thing), would turn this 1 trick pony in to a multi trick horse.

It would then make Anarchy station CGs a complete no go zone. Lol

Yeah thats what i thought, i dont want torpedos to be synt either but having a more would be nice. Sure with its 120DMg/torpedos can pack a punch un small and meidum ship or even nuke some module. but you have to take in consideration that Point defence are able to knock em out and small ship should be able to evade them

only 2 torpedo for a medium socket is quite few at least on medium/large ship that should be able to stock more ammo, maybe torpedos could be rework ? by removing the Infinite piercing

Or they could add large torpedo weapon that contain 4-5 of them.. same for missile and mine (does anyone really uses mines lol??)
 
Point Defence is practically useless on Torpedoes.

I found that out the hard way. Lol

Speed, and ECM are the best countermeasures for Torpedoes, but in most cases, these torpedo strikes are done at close range, usually against large slow ships.

Mines are also used by PvPers, combined with the same shield killer mod as torpedos, to disable the shields on any ship that runs in to them.

Reverberating Cascade is probably to Op for that matter never tested it though

Reverb isn't actually OP, it requires good timing, and skill to pull of, plus a shed load of luck.
Sure, it'll catch you out the first time, but after that, you know to just run, and they'll never catch you. (Most ships can outrun a torpedo)

But adding more ammo and then nerfing them actually has no overall effect on usefulness.

well, i never use them because i mainly play pve and its sad that i don't use them. a Huge plasma does 125dmg/shot so maybe we should Buff torpedo.

New Torpedo Stat (original value) ammo for small 4/ medium 8 large 12
Dmg 200-250 (120)
Piercing 65 (10000)
Breach dmg 90 (60)
Min breach 70 (100%)
Max breach 100 (100%)

I Mean when a ship blow up.. munition also are likely to explode with it there thats why i think npc dropping random ammo pod is a bad idea

Ammo rack % bonus, i would see it as 10% per class per compartment, when a compartment is destroy its deal 50% of its integrity to hull
