An apology and a wake-up call. The paintjobs

A few days ago, I wrote a heated post whose manner (perhaps) was a little out of place, for which I was disciplined. No objection. If someone comes to my house and takes a dump in the dining room, they'll walk out the door with my footprint on their ass, no matter how right they are. So I have to be grateful (and I say this without irony or ulterior motives) that the moderator only warned me and didn't give me the kicking I perhaps deserved.

That said, I don't know if it's legitimate to express my dissatisfaction with the ship paintjobs (I'm not talking about the kits, which I think are generally wonderful). I can't find any paintjobs, especially on the new ships, that I find convincing. I miss a rework of the Raptor, for example, or the simpler Tactical. Or some skins that look like junk, or aged ones like the Squadron skins on the Python, which looked spectacular and give an RPG feel to exploration ships.

Possibly Fdev is on it... but my Mandalay is in desperate need of some love.

P.S.: English is not my native language, so if any of these expressions are understood outside of opening a calm and mature debate, blame it on my language limitations.

I think part of the problem is what people find attractive/cool. I'm not a fan of the Squadron paintjobs for the Python because they look boring to me, for example. More paintjobs is always good, and obviously the newer ships are going to have fewer, but I would say the Cobra Mk. V is in more need of some love than the Mandy as that has a few different ones I like.

Of course, color preferences are entirely subjective... what I miss is the variety of output to encompass the tastes of old folks like me who marveled at the dilapidated look of the Rebel Alliance ships in Star Wars.🤣

Player custom paints FTW.

i remember the old days where custom paints were part of the game. (Forza on the xbox being a stand out example) but even in other Elite games i liked looking at the different paint jobs on different ships for sale.
I know some people are adamant that selling cosmetics doesnt affect a game in any negative way, and whilst i can see the point....... it is a loss for players who enjoy the gameplay assosciated with finding or earning ship skins through gameplay.

I am also disappointed with the variety of paintjobs available.

Not just on the new ships but the variety of standard paints for the older ships used to be much greater.

Whether I would buy the paints I am missing if they were made available again is a tricky question given the new pricing structure, but that is a slightly different disappointment.

Indeed, I don't intend to start a debate about paint prices. While frustrating (who would refuse to even offer free paint?), I can understand and reluctantly endorse the reasons behind it. My frustration stems more from the lack of variety. I wish there were some paints that didn't look like my ship just got off a "Pimp My Ride." 😃

Custom paint jobs are posing problems in a multi player game not only because of the technical challenge and the fact that it reduces sales for FDev (hey, why not charging the UPLOAD with ARX?) but also because of a tiny fraction of players that would create either offensive paint jobs or infringe copyrights.

The better solution(TM) may be a process so that we, the players can generate paint jobs, upload them to be validated by FDev staff, perhaps voted by the community/player base and then made available in the store. But yes, that would require some dev work to build the tool and the process...

the reducing frontier sales i fully get, and logically the rest of your point makes sense..........

however it hasnt stopped some, very detailed, very intricate and often very IP infringing cars making it into Forza games and that has been the case for probably a decade or more now.

I demand a fleet skin pack, a skin for all ships, srv's, fighter, onfoot gear & clothing. Make my fleet look like a fleet. God dammit, lazy marketeers

There is/was a 'Midnight Black Gloss' paint-job for the Mandalay that looks perfect on mine. I don't have the media-fu to show a picture here, but it is classy.

We re just a bunch of money sheeps for FDev. (Its sarcasm.) Bring back my old Camo paint jobs for the new ships and take my money, FDev. (That isnt sarcasm.) ;P
I have the Jungle Camo for the Eagle and it really fits. Put on some Enforcer cannons, drop tanks from the ship kits and its like flying a WW2 fighter and the bombombombombom*reload*bombombombombbom when you attack.

If ships like the FAS go the camo I'd tear up with joy.
