An apology to the dead...

...I don't normally kill unprovoked so feel I should issue this apology to the dude I just killed.
I was testing just how daft dumb-fires and station response currently is. I was sceptical that you could pop anything above a hauler before the guns responded.
Apparently it's true, I not only popped your asp but also escaped without loosing shield...I couldn't stay to apologise in person when you reloaded because I was under fire;so if you do read this drop me a pm and ill sort you out for the loss if it left you short. Again this is not my normal line of 'fun'

Well without a test to confirm the behaviour then I couldn't make a informed comment when the subject gets discussed.

That's not an excuse and you know it.

if you want to recompense then make him a Friend and make arrangements.

You did make a note of his name before making him your unwilling test subject I assume?

Doing it for science is good enough for me. And it should be good enough for you too!

Why not choose an AI pilot? Why did it have to be a Commander?
Because ai have bad fits or no shield , he was shielded and had weapons , pdt and ecm, so was ideal for the test, which I would perform on a test server if I could.
Anyway the result was it cost me 7100 to pay back the bounty and about 10k in ammo, not a huge cost for the damage I did.

You attacked this player of your own free will (as is your right in ED), you could also have tested on an NPC ship and it cost you far far less than it cost that player - Not sure what you aim to achieve with this post tbh but I don't believe it was to apologise.

I would have to agree that a way to test your ship or other ships vs both players and npc's would be nice.

That said I don't see it as a priority though maybe it could be a sort of 'drone' battle game or such, where you would connect to a remote ship and battle it out, kinda like battlebots or what that show was called, except with full sized ships?
Though it should naturally have a I guess 'training' mode, where it is virtual ships (maybe they show up like they do on sensors) in that game mode? and the actual battles would cost money in one way or another?

I was attempting to offer the dude I did it to recompense as I couldn't do it in-game at the time. With it was a aside about DF's and station response being a bit lax. That's what I was doing.
I don't appreciate 'randoms' feeling they are better qualified to judge my motives then me.
If id of realised the judgement brigade was gonna hang me i'd not of bothered.

ROFL that's like me meeting you in the street and giving you a good kicking and I do mean a good bruising. When I'm done and you're bleeding all over yourself I dust you off, give you another good slap just for good measure and offer to pay your hospital bills.

Now how exactly would you feel?

Cm'on, be honest now :D

Excellent experiment, also the cahoonas to own up and offer recompense. If only everyone who took pot shots at innocents did the same ha!

+1 for at least being open about it and offering to make it right. As to the act... well it was a success four ways:

1 - you got the info you needed.
2 - you have proven to others the mechanic requires adjustment.
3 - and saved lives in the process :) because now others need not perform their own experiments.
4 - the poor bas.... the object of experimentation learned that despite all his guns n stuff "there's always a bigger fish", and will doubtless be more careful in future.

Now you need to go out there and confirm the hypothesis by producing consistantly repeatable results

However, this is the internet, the judgement brigade are everywhere and hanging is their only skill - it's the price of entry you have to pay to be here; just remember: 99% of them are social fascists without the ability to see anything other than their own belief that whatever you do, "you're doing it wrong".

I'd feel better than if the perp had just ran off laughing and I'd make him PAY, and I mean through the nose, "just how much do you not want to go to jail... just HOW MUCH is that worth to you?"
