An appeal about the ancient site

Please people, do not just sit there in your ships hoping other people scan the stuff for you.

1) It stops other people entering the instance who might be interested in actively contributing.

2) It seems very likely that the more SRVs doing stuff, the more obelisks light up. Therefore by taking a place in the instance, you are stopping progression.

3) Its less people trying different combos in the same instance. We need to find out what triggers things and communicate, and in game communications are real time, we can cooridate better there than accorss discord or spreadsheets.

Oh, and if you do insist on sitting there, do not park AFK near any obelisks, because you can make it hard or impossible to scan some obelisks.

Thank you for your attention.

I am seeing more and more leechers and this is really starting to **** me off. As you said these people are not contributing in anything and are actually making the life of people working their *** off harder by limiting the number of people actually interacting with the obelisks, by parking next to obelisks preventing us from using our turret to scan them, parking or hovering at very low altitude within the site preventing us from using our thruster to jump around and by lighting the whole place (turn off your damn lights, that's worth for people in SRVs too) and making it harder to see lit obelisks.

Worse than a leecher: an annoying leecher.

I can't believe that having all the artifacts in your cargo hold and waiting for people to scan around is part of the mechanics of this mission and if this is indeed a bug it needs to be fixed ASAP to put an end to this behaviour.

A new form of griefing! Sitting there getting money for your hard work. I would put that in the same league as kill stealing, so pew pew would be in order!!*

*my opinion only!

ridiculous. Otherwise you have no problems?

I will agree on this to a point. Some people have been gathering as much as they can and then just relax to see what may happen, that is okay.
There are some who are just AFK at the moment, this is okay as well but is something to look for cause that can turn annoying quickly.
Then there are people like me. I do a little bit of research and testing but I also love to just soak in the event as well as taking documenation in the form of videos and screenshots. Usually I'm in my SRV for that so I'm not just completely leeching, there are times I do get in my ship and I'll stay in the air around the site for up to an hour just getting shots and videos. Of course I'm sure these types of people are not the ones you speak but rather the ones who have not put in the time themselves and just come and sit, and yes that does need to stop.

I at least got as many on my own as I could then I starting doing the sitting every once in a while to see if there is something I was missing.

But I thought that was working as intended? :D

Sorry, couldn't help it, but yes... parking inside the ruins is possibly the biggest pain because it stops others from scanning the obelisks near the ship.

Send a PM to any of the murder groups out there .. I am sure they will happily send some people over to "help" you move these pesky pilots on ...

I would laugh, but even im not that cynical.

This honestly doesn't surprise me. FDEV is extremely naive when it comes to multiplayer gaming. Both in execution as well as avoiding common pitfalls.

Blazing your own trail in the game industry with naivety isn't actually the brightest thing to do since it wastes time and money. But hey, there are new ship skins and kits in the store instead of a Season 3!

Now that the word has came out on the exploit that allows people to profit by watching others work, you'll never get rid of parasites.

I hear its called "space socialism" :D

Sounds a lot more like good ol' space capitalism to me. Sit at your desk and watch the plebs reap the rewards for you.

Anyway, if these people are getting in the way so much, why not just shoot them?

If they're actually AFK leeching and in the way, then shoot them. The SRV gun might be small, but that damage will add up even if they're in a ship.

I slightly agree, but I do it anyway because of how I perform tests. I park my ship near whatever cluster I want to work with (I keep a bunch of the artifacts in my ship hold) and then when I need to get new artifacts, I roll over to my ship and just swap them out. It'd be different if the ruins weren't as big as they are, but they are.

Got to admit I do the same. I parked my Cobra about 100m away from group G. Far away enough not to interfere with SRV scanning, close enough to be easy access to change artifacts.

I've been guilty of all of these.... Lol

So, sorry!

I was joining in and scanning, but soon got demoralised by the annoying delay in the Mission Critical Update lag, which makes the whole process impossible.
So instead decided to fly around honking my discovery scanner, because it apparently sounds like a fart, and everyone found it amusing.

Essentially, I was performing the evenings entertainment that day.
I've since left the site, I may return of the MCU lag is fixed.
