I have loved flying the FAS since it was released. Some of my earliest experiences with it in Beta got me worried. It seemed vulnerable with the less than stellar shields, so I went and took up with an FdL. I worked with that FdL, and got considerable tutoring on how to be effective in it by a great pilot, CMDR Breakfastmelon. (I hope this isn't considered naming & shaming because that guy knows what's what.)
I became fairly competent and I have had great success flying it. But, I just never liked it. The looks, the sounds, the cockpit, it just doesn't do it for me.
So, after settling in to the new conditions, I had found myself daydreaming about the FAS. Today I did something about it. I hulled out the FdL (still hedging my bets) and I got back in the FAS. I took her out to my local HiRES to compare performances. I earned a noticeable amount less per re-arm, but enjoyed myself so much more. The magic of a Bi-Weave shield, coupled with it's agility just made my day.
Don't give up on this gem just because other ships can generate more shields, the FAS is ready to go.
