An honest review of the Imperial Clipper

The clipper is HORRIBLE. Hardpoints don't converge at all for fixed (opinions of gimbal kiddies are irrelevant), no shields, needs large pad. The speed is great, but the only thing you need speed for is chasing down players, which is out of the question because you are forced to use gimbals.
The python is vastly superior as a multipurpose PvE ship.

I love my clipper, it looks great, sounds great, and is very fun to fly. I've used other ships before but always go back to using my clipper. I mainly use it for combat(PvE) and haven't really had any issues with it. I can out turn most larger ships without a problem, the only thing that becomes a problem are large wings in haz-rez sites, and being ganged up on in combat zones. Something I wish for is to have Gutamaya make a ship thats bigger than the clipper but smaller than the cutter, something that could be considered as a general upgrade to the clipper maybe with more hardpoints and some larger internals or something.

The clipper is HORRIBLE.

The Sidewinder is HORRIBLE. You cant do ANYTHING with it!
The Hauler is HORRIBLE. You can't do combat with it at all.
The Cobra is HORRIBLE. You always are left with the "if I could just do one more thing" with it.
The Adder is HORRIBLE. You are flying a 1966 VW Bug!
The Vulture is HORRIBLE. You just can't get enough power for everything you need to survive.
The T-6 is HORRIBLE. You can't turn around fast enough to shoot anything.
The T-7, the Asp, the DBS and DBE... Asp Scout... Anaconda... Python... Viper... HORRIBLE!!! Just HORRIBLE.

.. blah blah blah

As with every ship I have flown so far, there is a give and take to every ship. If YOU like a ship then good for you. If you don't like a ship then... good for YOU, you know what you don't want. Yes, some ships are better at thing while some are ok and some are well, not that great. But I did gain my first 2 levels of combat in a Sidey. Yup. A Sidey. pew pew pew... Did I take on a PvP 'conda? No!

Personally, I have wanted an Anaconda or Python since I got the game last year. I stopped at the Clipper. Why? I like it. I really do. Hey, guess what... the Class 3 weapons? If you can learn HOW to fire them, they work JUST fine. I love finding how to get the best out of a ship.

When I had a Hauler, I put a Beam weapon in it and upped everything to class A. Guess what happens when you do that? You get a single beam that can fire FOREVER.

In the immortal words of Tom Petty:

So you wanna be a rock n roll star
well listen hard to what I say
Just get yourself an electric guitar
and take some time and learn how to play.

Yes, but at least they are balanced :p

The gimbals and large pad kill the ship. HP convergence is what kills the vulture as well. Any ship can be made to fight well enough for PvE, that isn't the point. You're trying to present the clipper as if it isn't garbage, when the FdL or FAS blow it away for pure combat power, and the python is vastly superior as a general PvE ship (where top speed is irrelevant). The only thing the clipper was ever good for was ramming before the SCB nerf.
It's fun to fly I guess if all you do is turd around in the RES with the dumbed down AI that doesn't know about chaff.
But like I said, as a gimbal kiddy, your opinion is irrelevant anyway.

I don't run gimbal anymore... ever since I ran into a couple of (strong fake Aussie accent) "fellas from down unda" who taught me the correct way to use plasma accelerators on the nacells.... still not using all 4 slots with PAs like they were... Crazy Aussies...

AUSSIEAUSSIEAUSSIE... OIYOIYOIY!!!

(Again, Aussie) "now that's a alot of fire powah!"

And I totally get that you LIKE a different ship. Ok. I like mine. That should be ok too.

I have an A spec'd FAS, FDL and Clipper. Each one is great for somethings and crap for other things. The Clipper is a decent fighter if you use its advantages in your favor. If you try to face tank an enemy like you can in a FAS or FDL, your an idiot! It is not designed for that. However, neither the FAS or FDL can control the battle like the Clipper. Many think that PVP is how ships should be balanced. I'm fine with that, but, if you lose you should have zero insurance and start over. Then see who wants to run silent and face tank. Fighting to death is easy, if all you have is a rebuy screen!

Where the Clipper shines is as a short range smuggler! Nothing can stop it and there are places in the bubble paying 500K + for 10 weapons. With 145 Cargo you can smuggle a lot and no one can touch you.

You never bring a knife to a gun fight, so smuggle until you can afford the big guns!!!
