An Idea for Search and Rescue

While doing some planetary missions today I came across an escape pod and noticed you could use they data link scanner upon it. Of course that does nothing, but I was thinking what if it gave you information about the faction they originated from. Doing so would turn them into a kind of rare good where if you returned them to a system with that faction present you would get a multiplier dependent on how far away you had to travel. If you choose not to scan or returned them to the system you found them in, nothing would change. Another thought is along the same way but with the scan you could learn about possible rewards, with passengers having status kind of like passenger missions, which might reveal a famous person who has a high value return reward.
