So... I've had this idea knocking about in my skull and it won't go away, decided to come here to see how people would react and what you would think to it. I'm not sure if this is the best place for this to be posted but I've looked around the forums and it seems to be the most ideal.

The idea is this:
Doing some kind of news reporting in an in-universe style. What do I mean by this? I'll explain, should an interesting story appear, either by my discovering it, it being forwarded to me or whatever other method applies, I could write a short article or report, as a reporter inside the game would do. It might be something huge that affects all of the galaxy or something smaller that may affect a small group of systems, it could be something important, dangerous, unusual or just funny. I know GalNet already exists (Though I'm not sure how people would take to something else.) but I'd prefer to have it be based around the Alliance (My chosen faction in PowerPlay)

At some point during a week, I could publish a video, highlighting the top stories of the week and reporting on any developments, plus doing so would help me get my voice "out there" as I'm trying to follow my hope becoming a voice actor. I searched around to see if there was anything similar that already existed and I discovered https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDKH-bM2t-rGBkyjHcMU5Ew/featured that YouTube channel. What I'm thinking of would be something similar, though more Alliance focused.

That's all I can think of for the moment, let me know what you think, I'm happy to hear your opinion, good or bad. Feel free to grill me with question too, you might ask about something I haven't considered.

Well I've decided to go ahead with the project. I'm currently creating the first video, got a nice idea that might be useful for new players. I'll post a link here when it's uploaded and finished.

Rep, CMDR! In fact, count me in, I'd love to assist with this. Previous to my current job, I was a journalist and layout/design editor. Having a Google Drive or Mediafire link to a monthly "galactic gazette" would add some serious flavor, and I bet the forum heads would love to contribute. Might I recommend the following features (mainly because I would love to see this myself):

1. CMDR Spolight - brief bio sketch on both new and elder CMDR's, what they do, what they love
2. CLE Corner - a great feature from an experienced CMDR's offering continuing learning education on topics of their choice
3. Monthly update/photo spread on Distant Worlds
4. Comic strip? Hell yes.
5. Quick poll on fun topic (preferred hardpoints, most annoying npc ships, etc.)
6. "Tech talk" featuring a monthly ship loadout

The great part about this is that 5 out of 6 of these sections can be player-driven content, meaning you could accept submissions, thereby ensuring you have filler for future editions in case it's a dry month for content. Thoughts?

You've got some great ideas there! Love your enthusiasm! ^_^

Is there anything in particular you'd like to handle? I've already got my hands full creating the first video. :D Something of this size is rather new to me and I'd be more than happy to welcome a new pair of hands into the "Alliance News Net" as I have dubbed it. :p

Edit: Also, feel free to let your friends know if you think they'd be interested, many hands make light work, after all!

I'd be happy to handle the spotlight, tech talk and Distant Worlds. I've also got one heck of a mentor who has some great connections as far as everything else goes. I'll start reaching out to groups to see what they can provide :) Private msg sent

The layout looks pretty good. Disregarding the graphics I don't see where any significant changes are needed. Would you like me to give you a version of my avatar pic here to use so we have a consistent image?

EDIT: ALSO! That colour scheme seems fine, though I'd have to see it applied to the newsletter to be sure.
