An improvement of Immersion - More SOUND to make the UNIVERSE alive.

While the game is AMAZING with it's implement of sound from the creaking familiar sounds of your ship groaning at tight turns to the sound of hyperspace and the growl of your engines the game is still too quiet.

Or rather, the UNIVERSE is too quiet.

What would really make the universe ALIVE?

Have people TALK, make your NPC's ALIVE.

A game that took this to an excellent level was the old FREELANCER game.

-Combat chatter between engaged NPC pilots

-Comms chatter between traders and stations

-Comms chatter between YOU and NPC's

-Routine traffic chatter

-Random scattered conversations

Take the above, add that to Elite and I will LIVE there.

Also, for crying out loud, add voice over for the mission snippets when someone wants me to follow them out of Frameshift to talk to me because honestly, that tiny text window is something I do not look at when flying from A to B because it's not exactly popping up in a way that it's obvious someone wants to talk to ME - could be any of the canned insystem messages for all I know and those I ignore.

Add different combat chatter between factions:
--Empire
--Alliance
--Federation
--Independents
--Pirates
--Law Enforcement
--Traders

At the current time Elite gameplay has TWO things going for it and that is:

-The Visual (Huge universe, beautiful vistas)
-Sounds (Mechanical, not human ones)

Gameplay is what you make it and unfortunately it's rather flat. We need more immersive DEPTH it is sorely needed.

Whilst I agree that this would be great, simply suggesting it doesn't make it practical. Even just to add voice for all the current text in the game would be a large undertaking (and would be a significant download size, perhaps needing an option on the launcher for those who don't care about it).

But then that's the honey trap set for all future updates. New text? Needs new audio. So either updates take a lot longer and cost a lot more money or we get the horrible situation where some text has audio but all new text doesn't.

I'd love this but there's got to be a really good reason it's not in the game already. I can't ever see it happening. Which is a shame.

Plus the fact that it would require to be done for all languages that the game supports - a costly undertaking.

Plus the fact that after a few encounters with NPCs saying the same thing I would expect that players would become less enchanted with the changes.

Dear lord, not for ALL text in the game.

Simply for radio chatter in space.

File sizes is not a problem really, the main bottleneck would be to find:

-Time
-Money
-Some cheap voice actors for random talk

We are not talking a fully voiced game but rather comms chatter.
