An insight into the scale of the galaxy

I watched this video recently which in it's self is quite interesting but the really good bit is at about 5 mins in where a blue dot representing our sphere of radio signals roughly around 200 light years in diameter from the first radio broadcast in 1906 (unlikely to be distinguished from background noise but theorhetically could have travelled that far) on the background of our galaxy.

It's a humbling thought and exciting that we'll have this to play around in.

I agree that does compliment my video. I had actually seen that when it first got uploaded being a subscriber to the channel but had completely forgotten about it.

Interestingly in that video he says that it would take about 1104 years to get to a level of technology capable of reaching other stars relatively quickly, which is also roughly the time period that the new Elite game is set. Happy coincidence I think.
