An interesting and highly recommend documentary about Elite

When a game portrait is an epic in its own. Wow.

Plus, a motivation to finally revisit Aniara, which I touched only briefly many years ago when I was devouring SF novels in the hundreds of pages every day, but this one I put down after just a few because I didn't understand it and was turned away from anything poetry by the school's force-feeding it anyway. Also, now able to read it in original language, looking forward to some rainy days.

Kind of interesting to see how so many of the comments on that video seem to completely miss the point.
It's kind of like if somebody did a review of a van and said "Holy cow, this thing is BIG" and a bunch of people commented to say "Yeah, it totally sucks that it's so big".

I want to say that you really need to have played, and enjoyed, Elite 84 to understand ED but that'd be unfair to people who're too young to have enjoyed E84 but do have the imagination, initiative and creativity to enjoy ED.

Key thing is, games like ED just give you a bunch of tools and just leave it up to the player to decide what they're going to do with them.
Some people can't, or don't want to, deal with that.

Wild stab but I'd bet there's a strong correlation between people who used to build stuff out of cardboard boxes when they were kids and people who enjoy playing ED.

I totally agree, Commanders. Tim's videos capture the spirit of the titles he's "talk". I'd like to thank Tim for the content on this video about one of our favorite titles.

The people who post negative comments on Timmm’s videos are probably those who want a talking head waffling about nothing in a video entitled “ ten amazing secrets they don’t want you to know about how this game destroyed all other woke games and is dead and stuns trillions with unbelievable facts you don’t know” 🙄

Well, in a universe as broad as Elite itself, there are all kinds of people with all kinds of opinions. But for me, specifically, someone who makes a well-made video about Elite is truly positive. The fact that Elite isn't perfect, like everything else, but the fact that FDEV is doing well in many aspects and there are others that could be improved, that's also true. In over 30 years of "playing" titles... what Elite transmits to me is unique and that's why it is among a few at the top. o7 Commander.

Or maybe they just have a different opinion. I thought the video was ok. I played hundreds of hours of 80's Elite, like many here. It's as much as part of my gaming heritage and makeup as anyone else here ... but I think the video was ok at best and came across as overly elaborate game trailer for ED. I applaud the effort and the spirit in which it was made but I think it missed the mark for me.
