I play other games, I play a game called Rust and I enjoy it very much, already put 2k hours into it and the thrill you feel before a new wipe is a very nice feeling. What if Elite dangerous had a simular system, I know that a wipe cycle makes a game more appealing.
Imagine Elite dangerous had a 1 week wipe cycle at this specific game mode, this particular server wipes each time they restart their servers on thursdays.
Players cannot move further out than a certain Lightyear range from the starting zone, maybe 200-300 LY max or something to make space more alive within that area, in this game mode, stars outside this range limit is removed, empty space instead.
People can join forces with a nice guild system, where players have their roles. Some players can learn blueprints from various tasks such as completing missions, and even finding blueprints when scanning datapoints or what ever, also players will be able to build bases both in space and on planets, players can start a war against one another. But ofc, a lot of things must be solved before this, like combat logging and so on, make so people always in the game like in rust when logged out.
Mining would be a nice source of gathering the materials needed for preparing for the bases and also materials found can be used for crafting modules or some defensive turrets might require some sort of metal and some sort of materials.
Modules at stations:
The only modules you can buy in a station is E rated, and only fixed weapons, when it comes to utilities only the weakest utlities is available. To be able to use gimballed or turreted weapons these must be upgraded, and so on for the other modules.
Materials:
The materials will still be able to be obtained and is used for crafting modules. These can be found as normal, on planet surfaces, mining and mission rewards, also from NPC shipwrecks and USS.
Credits:
Credits will be extremly valuable now especially when people lose their modules when killed. Credits will be earned as normal but all the abusing credit earnings will be removed from the game.
Mission rewards:
Completing missions earns blueprints, materials and credits, and also improves the standing of that faction who gave you the mission. Improving reputation within a faction have its benefits.
Reputation withing Factions:
Earning reputation within factions lowers the cost of modules at the station. Also unlocks special modules, for instance, if the faction is owned by Aisling Duval, will unlock Prismatic Shields within those stations.
Player death:
If a player dies, the ship can be rebought as normal, but all the modules you had equipped is lost, these modules will still be where you died, which can be picked up again using cargo hatch or with limpets if you return to the place where you died, it will be an indicator in Super Cruise where your ship is located. These modules will be in a broken state and cannot be used unless repaired for a small fee. And if you die your friends can pick up your modules from your wreck and deliver them to the station where your base is or a public base as normal. A player never lose any blueprints when killed.
Obtaining blueprints for crafting:
For crafting modules, you will always need the basic one, E rated, which you buy from stations, and all modules will be able to be stored in cargo space, and to upgrade these modules you will be needing some sort of resources and materials. Blueprints is obtained from mission rewards and when scanning datapoints. So instead of data, like Embedded firmware and so on, you learn a blueprint instead. This learning of blueprints have some what fixed system but a random to it was type of module upgrade you find, you cannot find an A rated Thruster upgrade, instead if you find a thruster upgrade blueprint, its always the lowest upgrade, so if you dont have any blueprints for Thruster upgrade you get D rated Thruster upgrade, the next time, you get the C rated, B rated and last A rated Thruster Upgrade. With weapons is like Gimballed Upgrade, or Turreted Upgrade, which require the base Module when upgrading, and these is completly random, because there is no grades within these. For making a Gimballed Multicannon Medium size, require the Fixed variant as base, then having the blueprint for Gimballed Multi-Cannon Upgrade, and the required resources to do so, in form of materials.
Engineering Upgrades:
Enginerring upgrades will be disabled in this game mode.
Wipe Cycle:
Blueprints wipes on a montly basis and the rest wipes each week, or maybe each 2 weeks.
This is just some suggestions, imagine what a whole team can come up with, this would really give life to Elite and make it more unique.
