Dear FD, I love you guys, make no mistake about that.
I’ll get to the point. I just spent 20 mins in a system looking for high grade emissions in the hope of finding Improvised Components. Not a single USS of any kind spawned during that time. I’m not about to rage quit though. This is not my purpose here today. No, you can’t haz my stuff.
It occurred to me during my search that this was not the most enjoyable of mechanics in the game. Perhaps instead, you could add a reward system to CQC games so that they award a sensible amount of G5 mats for the winner / winners? (and keep the existing USS mechanic for the time being, for people who don’t want the alternative)
I can guarantee that I would play the ever loving god out of that, and I suspect quite a few others would join me. At a stroke you could revive CQC, and at the same time turn one of the game’s least fun elements - the G5 quest - into one of it’s most fun but still rewarding (of skill) elements.
If you think about it, a lot of the comments about ‘grind’ and ‘RNG’ basically come down to people wanting a skill based way to progress, over something which seems time consuming and random. This is also a root cause of why people jump on quick money making ‘exploits’ whenever they come up. I saw 50,000 ships on the traffic counter of Smeaton Orbital at one point when that one peaked.
If people jump on stuff like that, just think about how they’d jump on something legal like G5 mats from CQC. My sense of why people aren’t playing CQC is because they’re frustrated they won’t get a match, and it feels like it’s not linked to the main game.
Anyway, there it is.
Dear Forum Reader - if you agree please leave a positive comment below, and add some of the logic from above to your own posts. FD are known to respond to positive and constructive feedback, and this one seems like a no brainer!
