An option to adjust the size of objects would be cool.

So, one of my favorite parts of this game is that Frontier has given us the ability to make something cool from completely random items given to us. The new 3D placement controls make this so much easier, but it would also be cool to get a slider on the object's setting window to adjust the scale size of the object. Even a toggle choice of large, medium and small would be great.

Most of the wall signs in the game are way too big for my taste, especially when I'm building scenery out of scenery.

For example:

I built this path-side vending booth but I can't put any of the vendor signs on it, because they are too HUGE for the booth: All the signs cover up most of the front of the booth. A simple scale choice would help. I know there's probably going to be many more signs and sign options added to the game between now and release, but I was thinking that it would really save on modeling work and add lots of flexibility of we just had the option to change the size of existing assets.

Another example:

On this roadside fruit cart I built, several pieces are a little big, like the fruit prop itself and the sign I used as an umbrella. I would love to scale them down a little. (Although, I am sure that we'll probably get an actual umbrella prop later.)

This is a pretty frivolous request, I realize. But Frontier seems to like to focus on details and give us tools to be cool, so I thought I'd suggest it.

It depends on their game engine, but I suspect it already supports it. More likely than not if they have the red/blue/green controls for placement they will also have the ability to have red/blue/green for scale. Its a super-common 3D render mechanic. Putting the scaling settings elegantly into the UI would be more difficult, but who knows. :)

I believe that the reason we can't resize/scale objects is due to the performance hit everyone would see from the scalable objects. They use a lot more system resources and take up a lot more space in order to make them look from any size.

True, but I think a way around this would be to set scaled objects as instance instead of rescaled assets. Then again that may cause a mess when community comes into play. I guess we may never know cause we don't have access to the cobra engine.

Maybe if only certain 2D-ish objects like signs were scalable until a better way of doing 3D scaling could be worked out?
