Anaconda: Beam in Huge hard point won't fire

Hey guys I know this isn't the forum to report bugs, but I just wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing this before I file a bug report.

First, there are no power issues, and yes it is set up to fire in a fire group.

I put a large fixed beam in the huge hardpoint of my Anaconda, something I've done before so I know it should work. The beam will start to fire, but then stop and completely die after a couple seconds. Afterwards, I need to log out and back in to repeat the process.

I've switched out the beam for a large pulse, then a large burst. Both of these weapons will work just fine. I switched back to the beam just to test again, and got the same results as before. It would begin to fire, stop, then never fire again.

Ive also noticed a low 'electric grinding' noise that will pop up every few seconds in the ship while the weapons are firing. I know the audio was remixed for 1.4 but this seems sort of random, not tied to any specific module.

Anyway, is anyone else experiencing this?

edit- let me clarify this point: The beam will begin to fire, then it will stop. This has nothing to do with the power distributor, or the power plant. It seems isolated to a large beam in a huge hardpoint.

I have a large beam in the large hardpoint right above the huge hardpoint, and that one works just fine.

What size power distributor you got?

The best, everything is A rated, but I already said that there are no power issues. Other weapons work fine in that hardpoint except for a large beam.

Sorry just had to ask :( - Erm... I can't think of a reason why it would not fire so must be a Bug, I'm too far out in the galaxy to test sorry

Are you sure the popping and cracking isn't coming from your computer? Lol, kidding. Popping and cracking tells me something is overheating with the ship in the game.

No need to apologize Nutter, thanks for trying to help though :D

The ship isn't overheating either, and the sound I'm hearing isn't the cracking that goes with heat. The best I can describe it is a low pitched electronic synth, I guess similar to a 'buzzsaw' synth.

The main issue is that the beam won't work in that hardpoint, but the pulse and burst will. The beam will begin to fire, and it will last only a second or two, then it will just stop.

The powerplant isn't running at or above 100% usage, the beam is set to priority 1 in the management.

Not being funny you do have it selected on a fire group? if not how did you get to conda and not know how to use fire groups

please, read the second sentence in the first post.

Stupid question the a rated dist is the correct size?

the distributor is A rated, and the largest that the Anaconda can take. I can fire every other hardpoint normally with no issue. It's just the beam in the huge hardpoint that stops working.

Weapons on belly of any ship won't fire above center line for the most part so if target is that, then that's why.

lifting ones nose up enough for the weapon to see the target? :)

We're talking fixed not gimballed.

You don't need to select a target to test if a weapon is firing or not.

Every other fixed laser works just fine in the huge slot. They all shoot with no targets selected. The fixed beam doesn't.

My (little) contribution:

never tried anacondas, but check where is positioned the slot in the ship. IF it is in a strange place, it could fire only if you are aligned is some sort of way to the target (for example, the lower weapon slot of my FdL was under the ship, so if the target is just above your horizon, it cannot fire properly).

Hope it helps

As far as I know, that doesn't apply for fixed weapons, only gimballed.

I have never tried fixed beams, but gimballed and turret beams in that slot work fine for me (as long as the target is not above you).
I do however have a HORRIBLE time getting a huge cannon to fire from that slot. Loads of weapon capacitor, cool, enough power, gimballed reticle over target etc. just never fires. I spam alt fire and the ammo never goes down.

And even gimballed weapons will work as a fixed weapon if you do not have a target selected. They will fire straight ahead...
