Anaconda Damage Model

Managed to survive with 16% from a conflict zone. Accidentally laid 5 mulit-cannons into a friendly as it crossed between me and a Python. Radar turned red and everyone wanted a piece of me.

Anyway, I could not afford the repairs but looked in the outfitting to sell some stuff and saw the damage model. Nice work FD. Can actually start to see the inside of the ship near the hardpoint.

wait until 1.2.... the repair costs will go nuts...... cuase actually it's cheaper to pay insurance rather than reparing it :D
 
Personally I don't think they've gone far enough with the visual damage in respect to the hull percentage. Granted its nice to see what's there so far. But 16 percent? The hull should look like Swiss cheese.
 
Dude if you don't have enough for repair means you don't have enough for rebuy! You're risking it all!
 
You bring a Conda with those fittings to a conflict zone! Definitely much braver than me. Combat = full A fitting + armor for me. I dont even bring my Clipper to a warzone as even with relaxed FF rules 1 stray shot from C3 can make the whole place hostile. Having everyone goes red when you're right next to the capship is awkward...

In my Asp it took almost 2 sec. af alpha from my 6 guns to make them red, so a much safer boat.

No I would not have been. Had more than enough to cover insurance but was not prepared to pay over 2 million in repairs and drop into my insurance money.

The equipment on it is not what I had when going in. Stripped some out to increase my credit balance and A spec a Cobra for combat.
 
If I'm not mistaken, the visual of the damaged Anaconda was one of the very first things they released about ED to display the degree of visual realism. It just seems that it never evolved from there.

@Surly_Badger: Hm? No. What makes you think that? I just wanted to say that while I have yet to see visible wear or damage on any of my ships, hearing that the Anaconda does display damage opens a question to me:
Since Anaconda damage was announced and displayed here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1461411552/elite-dangerous (scroll way down or search for "heavily damaged Anaconda") already and while I still haven't seen a single scorch mark (but also not actively searched for it): is there anything *but* the Anaconda damage model?

If there's trolling involved, then rather by FD. ;)
 
I interpreted your comment as indicating that the screenshot was an older comp up from FD, not a screenshot from a beta of the game. If I was wrong about that, I apologize.

Visual damaged Anaconda was rolled in into Beta 2. Problem is it's not finished for rest of big ships. When it will be finished, lot of new gameplay elements like scavenging will appear.

FD haven't talked a lot about this feature because it is obviously not fully ready yet. Still, Anaconda damage model is in game already.

p.s. David in last QA before release said that damage models fully will be implemented post release.

I've noticed this on Anacondas before. Anyone noticed damage modelling like that on other ships in the game?

I've not looked for damage on other ships to be honest. I've always used the repair UI straight away in habit with my own ships. Will have to use the Outfitting UI before I do that to see if I can see any damage. When we get the external camera we will be able to see the damage more fully.

I wonder if one can see any heat damage such as due too being too near a star and using the FSD for hyperspace. My beautiful paint job! It always needs touching up! Cheap to get done though.
Firing my beam lasers too long can also cause heat damage to my Viper. You'd think that the alloy bulkheads would buckle!

That's the trouble with this game; it makes your imagination over-active to the point of wishlisting!
